Recent guests

Touring the Iraivan Temple today were longtime devotees from New York, Nilufer, Kaika, and Rashna Clubwala and Andrew Meunier. Also Sriram Somasundaram, Mythili Sriram and Akhila Sriram and Hetal Patel from Irvina, TX.

Upon our return to the Kadavul Temple, Larry Rivera who is a famous local Hawaiian musician, insisted that we join his guests and sit a moment and enjoy a song about Kauai called "Beautiful Kauai." Larry's entire family are famous for their Hawaiian music and he frequently brings his guests to the Kauai Aadheenam to enjoy the beauty and serenity of this sacred place.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this delightful and spontaneous entertaining moment.

Our last two wonderful guests pause a moment with Shanmuga Kartikeya under the Banyan tree prior to departing.

Mission accomplished -- they all pose with Sivakatirwami who is on vigil in the temple today, at the base of the Kodimaram.

    Positive Discipline Group for Hindus

USA, June 25, 2009: Jane Nelsen, an expert in education and the author of “Positive Discipline,” is launching in her website a group for Hindu parents seeking advice on how to educate their children. They can share their experiences and ask for expert guidance, connecting with loving parents everywhere.

Hinduism Today’s founder, Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, years ago started a campaign to help parents raising their children to be positive and confident. He found an expert ally in Jane Nelsen, a specialist in disciplining children with love and not fear. Jane asks, “Where did we ever get the crazy idea that children will do better if we first make them feel worse? Please absorb that statement. It doesn’t make any sense at all--yet it is the basis for punishment. A misbehaving child is a discouraged child.”

Subramuniyaswami was adamantly against corporal punishment, as is his successor, Hinduism Today’s publisher Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami. Following his intructions, Hinduism Today created the acclaimed “Parenting with Love” insight, marrying Jane Nelsen’s experience with Hindu traditions. You can read it
