You are invited to join Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami and his monks for an Innersearch Travel-Study Program, July 2-14, 2014, on the resplendent island of Mauritius, near the southern tip of Africa in the Indian Ocean. This will be our first Innersearch program to visit this island nation, one of few in the world that has a majority Hindu population, home to hundreds of Saiva Siddhanta Church members and Himalayan Academy students, as well as our Saiva Dharmashala and Spiritual Park, the only Saiva Siddhanta Church center outside of Kauai. Presenting an opportunity to learn from a living satguru, taking place on an island with a rich and varied Hindu culture, this program promises to be full of blessings and invigorating experiences.
Find out more about the program here.
On December 24, Day 4 of Pancha Ganapati, Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami was hosted by our Saiva Siddhanta Church Southern California Mission at the home of Ravi and Sheela Visswanathan in Carlsbad. The satsang began with a Ganapati puja by Senthilnathaswami, followed by a talk by Bodhinatha (see below for links to a video of the talk taken by Nalini Kodpadi), then singing by the Kondapi daughters from Phoenix and tabla playing by Ravi and Sheela's son, Mayuresh, bhajans by the group and prasadam for everyone. It was a rare treat to celebrate Pancha Ganapati with Satguru Bodhinatha during his travels! Jai Ganapati.
Videos of Bodhinatha's talk:
Last week Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami and Senthilnathaswami visited the site of a new Chinmaya Mission center, to be called Chinmaya Jyoti, for which is just beginning construction in the beautiful hills of Poway, California, outside San Diego. Sukumar Srinivas took us on a tour of the muddy site. When the weather worsened, we all went to his nearby home for an impromptu satsang, including a delightful talk by Bodhinatha.
After a wonderful retreat which included Ardra Darshanam, the monks return to their regular schedule and activities. The temple is still very zingy from the festival, so this homa was quite powerful. Satguru Bodhinatha gave an upadesha about all the little worries, doubts, and conflicts which can get in the way of our true nature. All the many little leaves which can cover up the sun.
Yesterday the monastery celebrated Ardra Darshanam, conducting a homa followed by a grand abhishekam. Siva's light and electric energy will be felt here for days.
Archives are now available through 2001. Light colored days have no posts. 1998-2001 coming later.
