Happy Ardra Nakshatra!
Today the monks celebrated the Ardra Nakshatra with our monthly abhishekam to Lord Nataraja in Kadavul Temple. This is quite an auspicious time of year, with Lord Murugan to be celebrated on Thai Pusam just a few days from now, and with Mahasivaratri to be celebrated on the 24th. This is a wonderful time to deepen your connections to the Gods and to deepen your meditations into the stillness of your own inner being. Aum Namah Sivaya

For nearly a year and a half now, we have been lighting what is called the “ksheera deepam for Lord Shiva on Ardhra nakshatra.
It consists of floating your wick in molten ghee on the top milk in a plate or dish. I checked to see if there were any youtube videos but there were none at then time. I usually flavor my milk by adding saffron, honey or jiggery, cardamom. The lamp will burn till the milk enters the wick when it will sputter, but you can see some milk is also burned in the flame, as the wick will harden. I was told that will bring harmony in households. I am sure it works!! Om Nama Sivayya,
