Who is Siva dancing on? I absolutely love the painting of Lord Nataraja, I just was curious about the context shown. I am accustomed to seeing Kali dancing on Siva, who lies calm and prostrate beneath her. I have just never seen Siva dancing on a boy. Regardless, very captivating image Pieter Weltevrede! Thank you for sharing! Namaste~

Nataraja dances upon Apasmara, a being caught in their own sloth and ignorance. Siva’s standing foot represents His concealing grace, or the ignorance by which we are able to evolve and experience. His raised foot represents revealing grace, by which we come to know our oneness with the Absolute.

    Jai Ganapati!
Your painting, Mr. Weltevrede, takes away my breath and leaves me speechless. Prostations, Salutations, Oblations, Adulations and Adorations to Our Beloved Cosmic Dancer. The graciousness you have brought out to the world is magnificent, precious and a masterpiece. It is as if you have channeled Gurudeva’s dance into your work. Thank you so very much!
