This palm is in full glory, growing just 150 feet East of Iraivan Temple in Rishi Valley. It is astonishingly productive, creating thousands of flowers and seeds in all stages of maturity. It is officially called Caryota obtusa, and is a native of Laos and Cambodia. Enjoy seeing it up close.

   It is magnificent and as you rightly commented about its intricate weavings and arrangements: “Who makes these forms?” indeed. On a different note, I am curious as to how you are able to obtain and plant such a variety of plants that have origins in different parts of the globe. Have these now become ‘naturalized’ in Hawaii or are special permits required to procure and plant them?
