The first step was to find a 45-foot-long teak tree that was perfectly straight. This proved a difficult task, and people were searching the forests for months. Finally, one was found and brought 90 miles to the worksite to be carved into the initial round shape seen here. It was such a difficult task, the price of just this piece of wood was $7,400!
