As Vishṇu reclines behind upon the great serpent, Vaishṇava philosopher Ramanuja worships the Lord’s jeweled crown, insignia of His rule. Ramanuja wears the distinctive Y-shaped mark, ūrdhvapuṇḍra tilaka, representing Vishṇu’s lotus feet.§
