The temple priests of Hinduism are the servants of the Gods. They serve the Deities by chanting Sanskrit and doing the pujas and homas. They also do special ceremonies, such as weddings, festivals and house blessings. Priests are married and live a family life. The swamis of Hinduism are not married. They give up family and worldly life to serve humanity. They do yoga and teach Hinduism’s great truths from their deep spiritual knowledge.§

இந்து சமய கோயில் அர்ச்சகர்கள் தெய்வங்களின் ஊழியர்களாவார்கள். அவர்கள் கோயில் விக்கிரகங்களுக்கு (தெய்வங்களுக்கு) சமஸ்கிரதத்தில் மந்திரங்கள் கூறி பூசை மற்றும் ஹோமம் செய்து ஊழியம் செய்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் வேறு சில குறிப்பிட்ட சடங்குகள், விழாக்கள், திருமணம், புதுமனை புகு விழா (கிரகப் பிரவேசம்) போன்றவற்றை நடத்துவார்கள். அர்ச்சகர்கள் திருமணமாகி குடும்ப வாழ்க்கை நடத்துவார்கள். இந்து சமய சுவாமிகள் திருமணம் செய்துகொள்ள மாட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் குடும்பத்தையும் உலகத்தையும் துறந்து மனித சமுதாயத்துக்கு சேவையாற்றுவார்கள். அவர்கள் யோகம் செய்து அவர்களின் ஆழ்ந்த ஆன்மீக ஞானத்தினால் இந்து சமயத்தின் மிகச் சிறந்த உண்மைகளைப் போதிப்பார்கள். §

Sami di kuil adalah “hamba” Tuhan. Mereka berkhidmat untuk Tuhan dengan melakukan puja dan homa dalam bahasa Sanskrit. Mereka juga melakukan upacara khas seperti perkahwinan, perayaan dan upacara pindah rumah baru. Sami biasanya orang yang sudah berkahwin dan hidup berkeluarga. Swami atau orang alim pula adalah mereka yang tidak berkahwin. Mereka telah meninggalkan kehidupan berkeluarga dan dunia untuk berbakti kepada manusia sejagat. Mereka melakukan yoga dan mengajar kebenaran dalam Hinduisme melalui pengetahuan kerohanian mereka yang mendalam.§
