Palm Leaf Manuscript Preservation Digitization by Digital Camera Photograpy: Demonstration of Method
Following are scanned PDF images, first of the Kamika Agama as published by the South Indian Archakar Association in 1977. It has an introduction, part of which is in English, the Agama in Grantha script (version of Tamil used for Sanskrit text) and Tamil translation/summary. The second set of files is Karana Agama, Uttara and Purva sections, as published in Grantha script only by Shanmukha Sundara Mudaliyar between 1901 and 1920. The files range from 2.7 to 9.6 MB. Posted November 28, 2005.
Our interest here is making available any version of the 28 Saiva Agamas in a scanned format, as part of an effort to translate each of them into English, along with Nagari script and transliteration. This is being done with the work of the Sivachariyar priest community in Chennai and other South India scholars. Those interested in this effort may e-mail Arumugaswami at ar@hindu.org.

The following hand-written translation of Kirana Agama, Charya, Kriya and Vidya portions, is by Dr. Sabharathnam S. Pattusamy of Chennai, India. Copyright Himalayan Academy. We are looking for someone to type up this manuscript using the Itranslator program of Omkarananda Ashram. The Sanskrit text is included in Dr. Sabharathnam's rendering in roman alphabet with diacritical marks, as taken from the original Grantha script. Ideally, one would type up both the Sanskrit and English. Those interested in this effort may e-mail Arumugaswami at ar@hindu.org.
