After an incredible powerful Tiruvembavai Ardra Abhishekam puja, the atmosphere is scintillating. Some devotees said they could have flown home without an airplane!
We being our new phase with a very auspicious special homa, as Dasan Mahadevan becomes a full sishya of Bodhinatha today, taking his Vrata Sishya vows after over a decade of dedicated study consistent service and participation in the mission of the Kailasa Parampara.
Homa begins, with many prayers burned…
Dasan read his vows with Lord Agni as witness, carrying his samkalpa-intention into the inner worlds.
“I believe in You, the one Supreme God, Lord Siva, and the Gods of our Saivite faith, and in the Saiva Dharma. In love and trust I recognize Your goodness in providing for my every material and spiritual need. I understand that the 365 Nandinatha Sutras, created by Gurudeva, summarize our monistic Saiva Siddhanta philosophy, our articles of faith and conduct, and other Hindu codes of culture, ethics and right living. I affirm that I understand and agree, one hundred and one percent, with each sutra, having read and reread and related it to my personal life. I now pledge to uphold and pass on to the next generation the wisdom contained within each of these quatrains. I hereby reaffirm the four vratas that I took as an arulshishya--noninjury, spiritual lineage, vegetarianism, tithing--and blend them into this 365 sutra vrata, as a collective vow that I will uphold and defend throughout my lifetime.”
I solemnly swear to abide by the Nandinatha Sutra Vrata.
“I believe in You, the one Supreme God, Lord Siva, and the Gods of our Saivite faith, and in the Saiva Dharma. In love and trust I recognize Your goodness in providing for my every material and spiritual need. I affirm that the twelve beliefs of our Saivite Creed, and our Affirmation of Faith, fully and unequivocally express my own beliefs, and I wholeheartedly vow to uphold and preach them as an authoritative, distilled formulation of our venerable faith. I understand the importance of beliefs, which have the power to create our attitudes, which shape our actions and reactions throughout life. I appreciate that our Saivite Creed serves to maintain the continuity and purity of the Vedas and Agamas and give strength and guidelines to individuals seeking to understand life and religion.”
I solemnly swear to abide by the Saiva Sraddhadharana Vrata.
Signed, Dasan Mahadevan
Bodhinatha and Dasan’s Kulapati Deva Seyon and Kulamata Amala Seyon also sign.
It’s a happy day for Dasan!
Welcome, Dasan, to the satsang of the sishya of the Kailasa Parampara!

Within our Saiva Siddhanta Holy Scriptures the Saiva Agamas explain the basis of temple ceremonies and worship plus yoga and jnana. The Tirukural was considered by Gurudeva to be "the most accessible and relevant sacred text." In it are practical and helpful guidelines for our conduct in every day life. The point of family life is to gain steady improvement, forever, in self control in the midst of responsibilities in the fulfillment of family dharma. Meanwhile, not taking detachment too far but taking it in the sense of spiritually looking for happiness, not outside in other people or possessions, the world, but inside ourselves and then sharing it with family and friends. "We regard the writings of our satgurus as scripture."

Tirukural, Introduction and Contents
Tirukural, Chapter 15 Possession of Self-Control
"The temple enables us to feel the presence of God, Gods and devas." We use our inner eyes to see what's going on in the temple, the three worlds. In the temple we're being good dvaitists in the dimfi perspective, focused in bhakti upon God Siva. In meditation we're monists, in the shumif perspective. We claim our oneness with Siva, Sivoham, I am Siva. In surrender, shrinking the ego through devotion, we have a realization that we're not the doer, that Siva is doing it all. Siva's energy comes through our soul.
