    முருகா நீ வா
    முத்திக்கும் பத்திக்கும் சித்திக்கும் முழு வல்லவனே

    உருகா மனமேன் தந்தாய்-திருமால்மருகா
    உவந்துவந்து சிவந்ததாளிணை
    உச்சியில் வைச்சிடு மெச்சிய வீரனே

    அறுமா முகனே யரனார் மகனே
    குறுமாமுனிக்குப தேசஞ்சொன்ன
    குருவே வருவாய் விரைவா யருள்வாய்

    mutthikkum patthikkum sitthikkum mul.u vallavaney

    urugaa manameyn thanthaay - thirumaal marugaa
    uvanthuvanthu sivantha thaalinai
    ucchiyil vaicchidu mecchiya veeraney (murugaa)

    aru maamuganey aranaar maganey
    kuru maamunikku upatheysam sonna
    guruvey varuvaay viraivaay arulvaay (murugaa)

    Translation

    Muruga, You Come

    Muruga - You - come
    for salvation and - for devotion and - for attainments too - Complete - O Able One

    unmelting - why a mind - You gave - Vishnu - nephew (1)
    cheerfully come - red - feet
    top of head - place - praise worthy - O Great Warrior (Muruga)

    Mighty Six-faced One - Siva's - O Son
    short - to great sage (2) - holy lessons - said
    O Teacher - come - quickly - grant me grace (Muruga)

    (1) Vishnu played the role of Parvathy's brother when She married Siva. That makes Murugan the nephew of Vishnu.
    (2) 'short, great sage' is the Sage Agastya.
