Clean up everything by grinding, lots and lots of grinding.

Cutting the back section required making a big circle cutting for the torch.


Then heated and bent each one in place. Crude by effective.

Next was hours of welding along every joint.

After a while, we got pretty good at it.

After seven or eight years of hard use, our heavy-duty Rhino mower was in need of major repairs. The mower deck had nearly rusted through. Over about four weeks ago, we set out with our hired farm manager Johnathan Anderson to do a thorough rebuilt, drawing on some basic knowledge of metal work augmented with a few choice YouTube videos. The work was completed and the mower is now ready to resume its rough life, good for another five years at least.
