Monks take a Journey to Polehale Beach

This was the moon setting the following morning of their stay (the sunrise was behind us)

Here was the sunset the evening before (pan left and right on this one).

We set up our little camp, had a fire, and made some wonderful food

In the morning we made cowboy coffee. After heating up grounds you just add some cold water and they all clump together and sink to the bottom. It was very tasty

Despite the warnings we still went swimming, and it felt wonderful.

For their annual 3 day retreat some of the monks took a trip to polehale beach on the northwest side of kauai, and then spent a night up in the Mountains at a lodge in Kokee.
