Stone Cutting in Bangalore
January 22, 2013Our perimeter wall work continues in Bangalore. This phase of the work is significant being one of the only occurences of machine use in the carving. The difficult part will be carving about 500 running feet of decorative Chola design wall.

This phase of construction should be faster as the machines cutting is a tremendous help. This is the Apollo cutter, with its giant 2.5 metre blade.

The stones used for Iraivan are the hardest available so the cut depth is restricted to a quarter inch, this prevents premature wear on the diamond segments.

A 5 hp pump supplies water to the blades and helps to remove the slurry out after cutting. The water also reduces fiction and heat.

The saw can cut big pieces of stone, up to 12.5 feet in length
