Solar Project Groundbreaking
February 12, 2013This morning the Siddhidanta Kulam held a groundbreaking for the building of the monastery's new solar field. For years the monks have been trying to move forward on this project, and now after going through all the planning and research, they can finally begin pouring foundations. This project is just another part of the monastery's move towards sustainability and self-sufficiency. Kauai's main source of power is currently two huge diesel generators and with this solar field, reliance on this source of power will be drastically decreased.
