Carving the Gomukai Pot
February 22, 2013
This is the Gomukai Pot for the Nandi Mandapam.

Here Silpi Manikandan is marking the final design which Silpi Adaikalam carves.

A closeup of the marking.

This is a contemporary design for the water collecting pot. Stapathi thought to use a fish design because it was related to water.

This is definitely a difficult design, especially the scales on the fish.

Stapathi had meticulously added traditional design elements to suit the overall theme of Chola Temple.

THe pot is eight sided with three fishes on each side.
