Garden Day
June 4, 2013On the second day of each phase the SK garden team spends all day focused on food production. The first half of the day is spent in Annapurna Garden tending to the soil, planting cabbage, sweet potatoes, cilantro, lettuce, Diakon radish and much more. The second half of the day is spent attending to our two pumpkin patches. Each patch requires monthly weeding. During the weeding we find many ripe pumpkins hiding in the tall grass. Thank you Bodhinatha for the blessing of fresh organic food, Jai!
Tejadevanatha and Rajanatha recently harvested 3 whole gallons of sweet potatoes.Â
Our Lychee trees are in full bloom.
Lord Ganesa seems pleased with todays garden seva. Work is worship!
Nilakanthanatha enjoys a fresh sweet lychee.

So far this has been a very productive pumpkin season.
Today alone we harvested four huge pumpkins. This variety is a cross between a local pumpkin grown on Kauai and a pumpkin from Mauritius. The flavor is sweet and buttery.
