Title: Rising in Chakras; Hindu Calender

Category: Hinduism and Tradition

Duration: 2 min.,38 seconds

Date Given: January 28, 2001

Date Posted: January_29_2001

Cybertalk: A cyber devotee wants to know how a person would know how high he can rise in his chakras. Gurudeva suggests that he should think how low he can sink in consciousnes. If he has fearful thoughts and is selfish then he cannot rise in consciousness. A cyber devotee in Malaysia wonders why there are so many versions of the Hindu calender. Gurudeva says that the Hindu calender is a one calender but it varies according to the time zone that it is calculated in.

Title: Perfecting Spiritual Techniques
Category:
Duration: 4 min 40 seconds
Date Given: May 20, 1999

Today at Kauai Aadheenam. This is Gurudeva, on the 20th of May, 1999.

We have one question here. "Should we keep the picture and the ashes of loved ones in the shrine room?"

Answer from me: They should be released and allowed to go on to their destiny of destinies. That is the very best thing that you can do and if you've done that, you've done just the right thing.

Another question about witchcraft, wanting to know more.

Well, this is a very difficult subject to talk about here. If you have e-mail, e-mail to me and we can discuss it further. It is a complicated issue and to go into it more deeply could become more confusing then elucidating.

We had a very nice experience the other day, on a talk show on television, here on the garden island of Kauai. One-half hour introducing 'Dancing with Siva' and 'Merging with Siva'. We are having a book signing at Borders in just a few days, at three o'clock in the afternoon.

Another wonderful experience was our Visitors Day, today. A lot of visitors. They learned about clearing their subconscious mind through writing down the emotional experiences that still linger deep inside in their minds and burning up the paper, releasing the emotion from the memory of the experience.

You have heard me say this many, many times - to translate what we know into actually doing that which we know we should be doing. In other words, actually practicing these techniques and actually experiencing the transformation that will come afterwards, are two other steps. Usually curious people, especially those of the New Age who want to learn a new technique and another new technique and another new technique, never quite get around to actually perfecting any of them.

Any mental or spiritual practice does not come immediately. It takes a lot of time. I myself have worked six months, one year, two years sometimes, to perfect a certain spiritual practice. This means that repetition day after day, after day after day, after day after day. Finally the subtle nerve force within the body begin to take hold. The nerve force within the astral body and within the physical body connecting it up to the soul body begins to take hold.

Similarly, do this Vasana Daha Tantra. Write a thousand pages of memories of the past. Burn a thousand pages up. Then just to be sure, do another five hundred and you might experience, you just might experience some transformation in your life. You might be on a higher realm, without packing a lot of memories and emotions, locked into those memories in the subconscious mind. The older you get, the more memories you have and the more emotions you carry. You find the past is greater than the future. How can we think of living in the eternity of the moment with such a big past to remember? Answer: Impossible.

Guests today, on the left are Amida Wiszniewski and Zofia Zelman all the way from Wrocaew, Poland. Next to Thambynathan Nutanaya, who showed them around, is Dr. Star Ladermanu and Paul Juba from Carlsbad, California, and on the right is Rev. Arlene Philan, who recently moved to Kauai and is a minister of a Univeral Church. . .Nutanya shaved his head the other day and is looking very monk like.

In front of monastery courtyard we have two beautiful statues of two great saints: This is Tiruvalluvar, the author of "Tirukkural." His famous maxims on human conduct and ethics are available on line and also in a wonderful book called "Weaver's Wisdom."

Meanwhile with our wonderful digital camera we are taking a closer look at the "little world around us." As we mentioned in earlier TAKA pages the remarkable "crab" spider is everywhere. Though his webs are a bit of nuisance, his handiwork is quite amazing and the spider itself has this unusual looking shell that does indeed look like a crab with two big eyes. Definitely this was designed by devas in some art shop in the inner words!

The famous grain of Asia: Rice. But what many people in the west don't know is that there are 100's of variety's of rice. We gathered a few of the varieties on the property here and took this shot. From left to right, a husked, parboiled variety from Sri Lanka, the next three are all "brown rice" whole grain varieties from California, the large hearty "red rice" follow by "long grain brown rice" and then the well known protein rich "short grained brown rice" and last, the full bodied hearty black Thai rice which is used to make a rich sweet "purple rice porridge" desert.

Iraivan Temple Carving Site, Bangalore, India
An eleven acre site in Bangalore, India, where 75 Indian families live and daily carve the sacred white granite edifice of Iraivan Temple which will soon begin to be assembled on the island of Kauai

We take you on a slightly different tour of the Bangalore work site on the recent day of Thai Pongal festival. It's winter in the high country and even though it is South India, its cool at the worksite. Thuraisingam shares these photos from the day of Thai Pongal (Harvest Festival).

"It is winter season in Bangalore, the time is 6 am on 14-1-2001. It is still very misty with a temperature of 12 degrees celcius."

A view of the work site nestled in a setting of trees. The room you see here is the room specially built for Gurudeva and the swamis to stay during their visit to Bangalore. It was built by a few silpis.

Another view of the work site with all our roses and their leaves covered with the morning dew.

This a our gardener, Vellaisamy, carrying sugar cane from our garden for the pongal puja. He and his family were first to come to the site, even before the work started in 1989. He helped clear the bushes and helped in doing odd jobs like cleaning the compound and now he works in the garden.

Mushi is always early for the puja. He is busy inspecting the grounds.

Indian Ocean Monastery
Gurudeva's other monastery in the island country of Mauritius
in the Indian Ocean near South Africa

Mrs Yvonne Paris visiting from Countainville, France and her friend Mrs Jacqueline Sullivan from Grand Baie. Mrs. Paris is mystically inclined and has been reading Merging with Siva. She told how the past life memories of members of her family have made her a firm believer in reincarnation.

M. Mudhoo, Narvinsing Ramloll, Hemant Bulleeray and Amit Beeputh are some of the many youth who are beginning to come to enjoy the peace of the spiritual park.

Kulagan Moonesawmy from Flacq has come to buy some copies of Positive Discipline. He's just begun a series of seminars for parents on how to raise children using techniques based on the Ahimsa principles found in Hinduism. Kulagan is one of Gurudeva long time devotees in Mauritius.

THANK YOU, GURUDEVA

For those who have been touched spiritually by Gurudeva's work, his books, his guidance, his inspired life and example and even his website, the "Thank You, Gurudeva Fund" has been established within Hindu Heritage Endowment.

Proceeds from this fund last forever; they're not a one-time gift. So gifts to this fund have eternal gratitude built into them. They live on in perpetuity.

Each month Gurudeva receives the income from the fund to be used at his own discretion to promote his work and mission around the globe. He loves this, for he knows that it comes from all the good souls who have met him and studied with him, traveled with him or just talked with him over the years. A contribution to this fund is tax-deductible.
