Gurudeva's Statement on America Under Attack

These verses from the Holy Kural have a useful message for the world today:

Hatred

Verse 851
It is said that hatred is the disease that spreads
The plague of discord among all living creatures.

Verse 852
Though men plot disunity and deliberately harm you,
The highest path is not to plan hateful retribution.

Today's tour day guests were all from the island of Kauai, except one (on left in back), a resident of California, who was "stranded" here when the airlines were grounded.

Sadhaka Thondunatha shows everyone the beautiful stones that will be around the main sanctum doorway.

Two late arrivals, Fred and Eric, who also live on Kauai. They were looking for a place to offer flowers in the hopes of uplifting those who might be distraught over the events in New York. Fred (on the left) had a cousin who was in the forth plane that went down, and he offered prayers in our temple for him and all those who passed on in the tragedy.

Iraivan Wonders

Slowly but surely the temple rises... it is always a surprise to people walking from the monastery to come upon this scene.

Course number four is still in progress. We had another interesting visitor today. Mr. Machado, a wonderful local man whose son helped pour the concrete foundation of Iraivan...third generation Kauaian from the Phillipines, his great grandfather who arrived in Hawaii in 1870 was a stone mason... Mr. Machado was extremely enthused with the stone work and had a long talk with Sthapati.

Northern European Innersearch, 2001
[In Progress]

Aug 14th saw the MS Amsterdam pull into Warnemunde, a little port town in the north east of Germany. Tamil devotees of Gurudeva drove hours from Berlin to host us. They brought lunch with them and we all went to a beautiful park for a picnic.

Innersearchers making their way to the park with the gigantic MS Amsterdam behind them.

Here are the Innersearchers and our sweet friends helping to dish out some authentic Sri Lankan lunch.

For quite a few of the Innersearchers this was a rare treat as they have never had Sri Lankan food prior to the Innersearch.

Here's a few of Gurudeva's devotees from Berlin who drove many hours to bring the wonderful lunch for everyone.

Elayathamby Veeragathiyar, his wife Puvanesam and son Nirmalan are Gurudeva's dynamic devotees in Berlin who arranged and pulled this whole picnic lunch together. Thank you very much to our dear friends from Berlin for your boundless love and kindness.

At the end of our picnic we all posed for a group photo.

Click to send Gurudeva a spiritual question he will later answer for all to benefit.

Title: Caring for those preparing to depart
Category:
Duration:

The question is, "Shall we help someone during the process of transition into the inner world or should we just let them make that transition by themselves?"

This is dependent upon the condition of the individual at the time of their departure. At the time of departure of an individual, those surrounding the individual are actually in a high state of consciousness. They are not in their intellectual, thinking mind. They will respond according to the impulses within them, appropriately.

A person may be so far gone that it is easily seen that this soul is a departing soul, and within minutes will disconnect from the physical body. Those around that soul will know that and not interfere with the disconnection. But, if they are not sure, they will do everything they can to help maintain the longevity. True, there is a karma in every action, which produces a reaction. But, at the time of transition, people are not in their thinking mind. They are not in their intellectual mind. They are not in the mind that calculates what kind of karma will produce what. They are acting spontaneously, intuitively and their soul-force is blending with the soul-force of the departing loved one, who knows what is going to happen.

Further, each individual has to satisfy himself, according to whether he is steeped into the Western beliefs, a mixture of Asian beliefs and Western beliefs as to departure, or whether he has full understanding of the Asian way of looking at life and death. He has to satisfy himself, because he has to live with himself in the years to come, knowing that he did the best, according to his upbringing and memory patterns.

The mystery of life and death have confounded humanity, perhaps since the beginning of humanity on this planet. Each one has to come to terms, with their own personal understanding, according to Vedic knowledge or Western misunderstandings.Date : January 31 2000

Innersearch postponed

Due to the horrific tragedies of September 11th, Himalayan Academy has indefinitely postponed the Canadian Innersearch scheduled to leave next July. Please be assured, we will re-schedule the Innersearch, but only when the present insecurity around the world settles down. Until then, if you are planning to go on a future Innersearch program with Gurudeva, continue to set aside a little income each month in a special fund.
