Gurudeva's Statement -- Attack on America

All is very quiet at the Aadheenam... Living with Siva will soon be finished in Malaysia, thus completing the Trilogy comprising a lifetime of Gurudeva's teaching in three volumes. Yogaswami's great songs keep us reminded of the path and the Reality. This is the first song of the famous collection of Yogaswami's "Good Thoughts" called "Natchintanai" which we put here in it's entirety...

Engal Gurunathan / Our Guru Master

1. Our Gurunathan is He Who made known to me my greater self, His peerless Feet reposed on my head. Father, mother and Guru, He became, And endowed me with sovereign power. The effect of my deeds of yore He effaced, He who cannot be fathomed by the triune, Beyond the duality of good and evil, His flame lightens my being. He is our Gurunathan.

2. He is our Gurunathan Who said that body art thou not. He illumines my consciousness to the brim, And bids me give up my desires alluring, And attain Mukti in desirelessness. He did enslave my impetuosity, He who pervades both heaven and earth, He made me thirst for the waters of grace. 'Twas Truth indeed that I did behold, Our Gurunathan is He indeed.

3. Our Gurunathan is He Who taught me the mysteries of Yoga By exalted contemplation pure, To merge the finite consciousness With that of the Divine source. Then did I perceive the non-dual, Supramental, timeless beyond space. 'Do thou apprehend the cosmic dance, That pulsates in universal consciousness, By giving up all attachments,' so said He. He is our Gurunathan.

4. He is our Gurunathan Who suspends the vital process of the breath, That shall unveil the secrets many And gain the mastery of the mind and body. Attuned to hear the unheard melody, I awakened to the resonance of Aum. 'Be thou pure and realise,' said He, 'The indissoluble link between you and I.' Our Gurunathan is He.

5. Our Gurunathan is He By whose grace the cosmic powers did reveal Their abiding place within my core. Myself did mingle in His cosmic self. Adorned with the mystic insignia, He bade me melt in yearning love, And chant the sacred name of Letters Five. 'Eternal art Thou,' was his assurance. He is our Gurunathan.

6. He is our Gurunathan Who made me seek without striving, And realise that Sivam art in the Anma. He made me espouse spontaneous worship And walk in the goodly path, By songs unpremeditated, and bade me Join the band of devotees meek, In the certitude of faith and good cheer. 'Live well in this world,' said He. Our Gurunathan is He indeed.

7. Our Gurunathan is He Who with one sweet word, Revealed the calm of inner consciousness. Indweller in all the objects of the world, He towers above the causal existence. Unknown even by the celestials, He soars above the experiential planes, And so enriched I felt with grace sublime. He is our Gurunathan.

8. He is our Gurunathan Who knows not the beginning nor the end. 'That art Thou,' He said and chimed That perfection is supernal Effulgence. His is the plea to overcome finitude. Non-pareil and self-luminous is He Who bestowed on me such bliss. Our Gurunathan is He.

9. Our Gurunathan is He Who kindled in me the lore of yogic cult, That shall sustain the inner force. Himself untainted by fear and wrath, He did alleviate my egoity, And unveiled by gradual stages, The way to attain the unitive experience. 'Pursue the beatific goal,' said He And He is our Gurunathan.

10. He is our Gurunathan Who affirmed that we are what we are. And that we lack nothing whatever. Effaced shall be the reaction of deeds, With no comings nor goings, said He, Thou art what Thou art--One with Truth, Resolve not but submit to Divine will. 'Aum' of sublime power did he impregnate, And infused the peace of the voiceless word. Our Gurunathan is He indeed.

Other visitors like to come in large groups with their relatives and friends. Here we see a happy group walking along one of the paths that leads to wonderful natural spots down the park...

One fine young man, Vidyaprakash Ganesh brought his mother and nephew to worship Lord Ganesha at the Mandapam. Vidyaprakash has been a disciple of Gurudeva for many years and is specially known by everyone for his very sweet nature.

These two ladies are enjoying a rest after having walked the 7 acres of the Park to worship at the three large granite murthis. Behind them is a young banian tree sacred to Hindus. Someday the tree would grow big enough to provide a cool shade to large groups of visitors and to those who wish to meditate in a cool fresh and quiet spot.Visitors can see other varieties of this ficus family tree as they walk down the park towards the Muruga murthi.

Amik Teeluckdary and his family like the serenity prevailing at the park. Amit is one of the programs producers at the local MBC television. He has in mind to someday work out a program on the philosophical aspects of Hinduism which would include Gurudeva's teachings.

Mr. Rony Lamport is the Operations Manager of the Veranda, a beach bungalow complex in Grand Bay. This is the first time he is discovering the Spiritual Park with his family. For his wife it is an unbelievable experience. " I would have never thought there was such a magnificent and quiet place in Mauritius. The whole family had a nice time walking over the park that morning.

Title: First Day of Pancha Ganapati
Category:
Duration: 7 min, 51 seconds
Date Given: December 21st, 1998

Today at Kauai Aadheenam, December 21, the first day of Pancha Ganapati. The Hindu festival of this holiday season of the year is for five days. Today is the first, when close family and friends come together and share gifts in joy and happiness. We have a big picture, statue of Pancha Ganapati all decorated with lights, receiving all the gifts that close family and friends give to Him, to later be given out to the children from Lord Ganesha, Himself on the fifth day.

Visitors are here today. Janaka and Bhavani Param back from India, where their son, Param Jothi married a lovely girl, Deepa. He first had to become a brahman and have his upanayana sacrament and then the wedding sacrament followed. It was a wonderful ceremony, about 350 people mostly all relatives of her family joined. Janaka and Bhavani have been members of Saiva Siddhanta Church for about 30 years. They prayed to Lord Siva for a son to become a Saiva Swami some 25 years ago and today, he is one of our Saiva Swamis.

Prayer is a wonderful advent in life. Have you ever prayed and your prayer has been answered? Prayer is different than affirmation because prayer is talking to Devas and Mahadevas. Devas are angels and Mahadevas are big angels and the Gods. In the Hindu pantheon of Gods, there are over 330,000,000. That is quite a collection of Gods, isn't it? One for every department of life and there are many, many, many helpers.

We talked to 80 - I think it was 80 - wonderful people at Loganathan Sivam's Koan Gallery in Los Angeles, who all gathered together to look at the new book, 'Lemurian Scrolls', and study it. Some had been reading 'Dancing with Siva'. Well, they asked a lot of questions. I was on the telephone talking through a big speaker amplifying system at Koan Gallery. We had a wonderful time together and we invited each and everyone there to come to our Cyberspace Ashram everyday. We would also like to invite you, the Koan Gallery congregation, to join me in June on an Innersearch Travel Study Program that Himalayan Academy, our school, is conducting on a ship going from Vancouver to Anchorage, Alaska. When we get off the ship we are going to dedicate a Lord Ganesha temple in Anchorage, Alaska. Lord Ganesha is settling down in that cold, cold place to warm the hearts of all the Hindus in Alaska. It will be, eventually, a very important place of pilgrimage. We don't have the land yet. So He will settle down in someone's very large home or rent a facility until the land is purchased and a beautiful temple built for Him.

Well, everyone, some of the questions that came up today at Koan Gallery. Very, very interesting. We talked about meditation, controlling the breath, controlling the mind. All the standard questions that beginners ask. "How can we control thoughts that go in and out of the mind?"

There are five states of mind. The conscious mind, the subconscious mind, the sub of the subconscious mind, the superconscious mind and its subconscious, the sub supersconscious mind. So the question is, "How do we know what area of the mind we are aware in?"

Well, first we have to study the mind and we have to do beginning practices. To meditate is like learning a fine art such as dance, music, or painting. We don't just pick up a paint brush and begin to paint. We don't just begin to dance without a lot of training. We don't put a violin under our chin and start to play. No way can that ever produce music. We have to start at the beginning. You have to find a teacher who is patient, and kindly, who will help you, encourage you, and also discipline you.

You also have to be open to correction and criticism. Now, all professional people like criticism. There is not one professional person that just soaks up the praise and then resents criticism. Because it is unprofessional. That means a lot, being professional and unprofessional.

So learning to meditate is a professional art. As professional as standing at an operating table, making that first cut and then proceeding until the operation is complete and the person is within the healing process. It is not sitting and closing your eyes and watching your thoughts. When you sit, close your eyes and watch your thoughts, you are in the intellectual mind. That is very different than the perceiving area of the mind, where you perceive, you know, but you don't think.

We went into all these various and varied subjects. That was a wonderful time talking to each and everyone of you at Koan Gallery and thank you for inviting me. We are looking forward, Loganathan and Yatrika, for our next gathering. Maybe we can make it monthly.

Well, I will be seeing you again tomorrow and send in your questions. If you want to travel with me to Alaska, well ... up, up and away to Vancouver! Then we sail away to beautiful Anchorage among the glaziers, the polar bears and the big, big fish called whales.

Aum Namasivaya everyone, tune in again tomorrow to Cyberspace ashram, Today at Kauai Aadheenam. It will be the second day of the Hindu festival, Pancha Ganapati.

Innersearch postponed

Due to the horrific tragedies of September 11th, Himalayan Academy has indefinitely postponed the Canadian Innersearch scheduled to leave next July. Please be assured, we will re-schedule the Innersearch, but only when the present insecurity around the world settles down.
