Gurudeva's Statement -- Attack on America

Yogaswami said:

"God is the life of our life. Therefore we are His possession. We are His perpetual bondsmen, pledged to undying servitude. All our vibrations originate in His vibrations. We move to His rhythm always. We can never for a moment forget Him. We lack nothing. We live in eternity. We dwell in everything and art everywhere. We are all-knowing. Let us ponder on these exalted sentiments always and get beyond the base qualities inherent in us, and attain the grandeur of Divinity.

We have with us pilgrims from the mainland USA, Mauritius, and Malaysia. Bodhinathaswami talks to them in the Guru temple.

Many have questions about the future. The answer is ever the same, be diligent in your sadhana, perfect ever more and more the art of harmonious living, fulfill the mission that Gurudeva envisions for us, spread the teachings, and work to stop the war in the home. Slowly we are changing the world.

Manon Mardemootoo on the left from Mauritius. Manon has been instrumental from the beginning of Gurudeva's work in Mauritius, in supporting and serving the Kailasa Parampara there. As a result of his strength and that of all the other wonderful Kulapatis, Kulamatis and devotees in Mauritius we have a wonderful center there today.

Loganathan Sivam from Los Angeles, he has been with Gurudeva for 30 years...

Bodhinathaswami is a wonderful speaker, with a very practical, centered approach that helps keep everything in perspective.

Meanwhile some of the men who are staying on the island are pitching in with some Sivathondu, which means, Karma Yoga. Here is our new "indoor-outdoor" carpentry and work shop. Easvan Param on the left is an experienced electrician and is wiring up the whole place. Adi Alahan is helping, Iraja Sivadas and Jothi Param have joined the team.

They only have a few more days work and we will be able to plug everything in.

The Aadheenam is continually growing and renovating and our new workshop is an important tool in this whole process as we have years of building ahead of us as we continue to manifest the "place where the world comes to pray."

Around 1980 some of Gurudeva's small pamphlets landed in Mauritius the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean" which has a majority of Hindus. They appealed to Gurudeva to come.

In 1986 after exploring many sites on the island, Gurudeva, guided by Lord Ganesha in a mystic vision, chose the remarkable seven acres of land on the northern shore that hugged the Rempart river just where it emptied into the sea. Gurudeva liked the remote quietness of that place and the manner it was swept by the ocean breeze. Here you see the view facing east toward Australia and India. The monks who stayed at the place worked hard to transform these seven acres into a beautiful Spiritual Park that Gurudeva has lovingly dedicated to all peace seekers. The essence of the park is to cultivate spiritual awareness. A rare natural gift to the world from a mystical Soul.....

A view of the Ganesha Mandapam nestled in a grove of mango trees laden with fruits at this time of the year. The design for the the Ganesha Mandapam comes from two temple building traditions in India: the timber and river region of Kerala in Southwest India, and the timber and stone region of Assam of northeast India, next to China. This peace pavillon reminds visitors of all the wonderful contributions Gurudeva has made to the world to uplift mankind.

This weekend sishyas of Gurudeva from all over Mauritus gathered at the Saiva Dharmasala to pray for their Beloved Gurudeva.
Early in the morning after a very heart-melting pada puja on the holy sandals of Gurudeva, all sishyas sang Natchintanai with joy. Later they moved to another room of the Mandapam where they read from the Saiva Dharma Shastras. Everyone shared testimonies to lovingly express their gratitude to Gurudeva.
Gurudeva has really positively transformed the lives of so many souls on this planet...

Michael Bouvier is a professional translator who lives in France. On his visit to the park with a few Mauritian friends, he was so impressed by the teachings of Gurudeva that he purchased most of the books from our Mandapam bookshelf. He came a second time to worship alone at the three murthis. Before his departure, he chose the Lemurian Scrolls. He has made the right choice....

Gurudeva, to stop war in the home, has asked that all his sishyas start teaching Positive Discipline to uplift the life of families all around the world.

Positive Discipline is a modern concept devised by Dr.Jane Nelsen that explain that parents who use kindness and firmness to teach life skills will encourage self-respect, self-discipline, cooperation, good behavior, and problem solving skills in their children.

Here we see a nice group led by two sishyas of Gurudeva in Goodlands, having happily completed a series of study group sessions on Positive Discipline.

Today at Kauai Aadheenam. Welcome, welcome!

We have had a wonderful Homa. I gave a very nice talk to the congregation of Saiva Siddhanta Church. All the Swamis, Yogis, Sadhakas and our task-forcers were there. Boys and girls, men and women, husbands and wives, beautiful congregation, all dressed in traditional Hindu clothing. They looked so nice, so spiritual, so divine like they had dropped in from inner worlds.

Well, in a few days it will be Halloween. There is a new horror movie out in October, 'The Festival of the Dead'. It is a very scary movie. So, don't take your children or go to see it yourself. You don't want to impress your mind with negative affirmations.

In the next issue of 'Hinduism Today', Publisher's Desk has a beautiful inspired talk, given a number of years ago on 'Positive Affirmation'. I will be what I will to be. I will do what I will to do.

Be in control of your life. Think about the results of what you do, what you see, what you say, to others and to yourself. If you criticize others, you are criticizing yourself because you are hearing what you are saying. If you use swear words, you are using the d-word or s-word for yourself. All those four-letter words which are not like the four-letter words 'nice', 'love', 'help' ... you know, those kind of nice words. I just heard myself saying those words and I feel better because of it than if I use the s-word and the d-word and all those other words, which I don't even know or want to know, I would impress my subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is like the hard disk of the computer. It remembers. Once it is programmed well, it continues acting out the program, 24 hours a day.

Well, let us ask ourselves what are we teaching the children on Halloween? To dress up like goblins, little devils because everybody is doing it. Christians are doing it, Jews are doing it. I don't think our Islamic brothers are allowing that to happen. I don't think our Hindus are doing this because they are too wise. They know that the impressions go into a child's mind.

What are we teaching the children? Trick or treat! You give me something or I will do a trick! I will give you a little push or I will break a window, get a cat and put in on your porch. Am I painting a picture? Do we understand each other?

We are teaching the children to be experts in the art of extortion. They will need to do that through their divorces. They will apply that later in their lives in many, very expensive ways for their opportunity because they have been watching. We are also teaching them, while they are being trained as an extortionist, to beat somebody else. Ghosts or goblins, a little devil. This is a high point in a child's life, Christmas, Santa Claus, Halloween? What else do they have to look forward to other than these beautiful festivals of their religion? I don't relate to these two.

Many children lose total confidence in adults when they find that they have been lied to and there really is no Santa Claus. Who could trust someone who would do that to you? They are being taught that deception is OK. It would be their soul that would say NO-K, it is not right. Well, a child's mind is open. It is a long life of, like a CD or tape recorder, lot of space to be filled in. First impressions are the strongest impressions in a child's mind. So, my advice and I am sure it would be yours because you are listening. We are in cyberspace. This is my electronic ashram, you have tuned in. Let us not train the children to be extortionists and absolve their conscience by making them somebody else than they. Not only that, but dressing them in hideous costumes. This is the festival when the astral plane opens up. The asuric forces are dense on earth and capture the children. Psychic people, you have heard of walk-ins? Then, what are you going to do?

You have got to raise the children and protect the children and help the children grow up, learning good values that extortion is bad, that deception is bad. You can do that. Think about it. Halloween is not for parents on the spiritual path or those who are leading their children on the spiritual path. It is going in the opposite direction. That is where it is headed.

Well, we will be seeing each other tomorrow. We have just finished a 2-day retreat and it has been wonderful, reflecting on the past and on the future. The subject of Halloween came up. You have heard my view.

Innersearch postponed

Due to the horrific tragedies of September 11th, Himalayan Academy has indefinitely postponed the Canadian Innersearch scheduled to leave next July. Please be assured, we will re-schedule the Innersearch, but only when the present insecurity around the world settles down. Until then, if you are planning to go on a future Innersearch program with Gurudeva, continue to set aside a little income each month in a special fund.
