Gurudeva's Statement -- Attack on America

Gurudeva once told the monks:

"First learn to love fish, then birds, then animals, then man... only in this way will you come to realize the Self." And recently he has brought forward an even simpler magic six-word mantra: "I love you. You love me."

In this simple way he echoed these similar words of his Guru, Siva Yogaswami:

"In the sanctum of our hearts, we shall find the Lord of Grace showering His bounty as a great Giver. All Hail Namasivaya!"

"Fix the heart on God with love, the mind on His word with love, the hands upon His work with love, and then will unfold in the heart, the radiance of the knowledge of the Self, the SivaSakti, the dynamic and luminous presence. All Hail Namasivaya !"

Sadhaka Jothinatha meets with pilgrims from USA, UK, Canada and Malaysia... to discuss ways and means of promoting Hinduism Today in those countries. Gurudeva has always said that "Hinduism Today is the prow of the ship..."

Garland making in the temple. Here are two of Gurudeva's long time staunch sishya from Malaysia (in the foreground) Mr and Mrs. Thanabalan and Ahila Ganesan.

Jothi Param and Bhavani Palani.

This is Jothi's little daughter, Sandiya Devi.

These two sprites were trying to get Sandiya Devi to come down off the steps, next to the little Ganesha shrine outside the temple. They reluctantly acquiesced to pause for a moment amidst their play to pose for the photographer. Jeyandra on the left and Bhajana on the right. "Smile, lift your head..." Jeyandra wasnt' sure whether or not he liked being commandeered like this. A new breed: American born Hindus.

Several days of stormy weather from the west brought wonderful drenching rains, washing the atmosphere of the Aadheenam, like giant daily bath... Today the wind calmed down and now the gentle easterly trades point the flag of Hindutva toward Mount Waialeale at sunset... a profound peace pervades all around...

Title: Why so Many "isms"?
Category: Hinduism & Tradition

A question from Texas, came in through e-mail, wanting to know more about Sanatana Dharma, Saivism, Vaishnavism, Saktism, Smartism. Why are there so many "isms"? And why are so many enlightened people, why do they have so many different opinions about the Sanatana Dharma?

Cyberspace cadet in Texas, we have worked for many years creating Hinduism's Contemporary Catechism, called "Dancing with Siva". It's the only book in Russioa on Sanatana Dharma because it was translated into Russian language. It's a standard in some universities. Within, it explains all about Saivism as well as Vaishnavism, Saktism, Smartism, the major sects within the Sanatana Dharma, as well as the other religions of the world. "Dancing with Siva" is available in most bookstore chains. But, for free, you can see it and read it and print it out on the internet. Just search around in our website and enjoy "Dancing with Siva", Hinduism's contemporary catechism. Ask any questions you want about what you don't understand. We'll be happy to answer them for you.

Innersearch postponed

Due to the horrific tragedies of September 11th, Himalayan Academy has indefinitely postponed the Canadian Innersearch scheduled to leave next July. Please be assured, we will re-schedule the Innersearch, but only when the present insecurity around the world settles down. Until then, if you are planning to go on a future Innersearch program with Gurudeva, continue to set aside a little income each month in a special fund.
