Here is another good example of our international collaboration. This giant banner was created by our members in Malaysia. A design was prepared and some files sent to Malaysia and then a group of young ladies, spearheaded by Mohana Vilashiny and Sarkuna Sockanathan, had this giant banner printed by V. Santhramogan on very high quality plastic material.

The banner greeted everyone who came to the temple during the Mahasamadhi Observances and will soon be coming down. It is really big! about 6 feet high and 12 feet wide! We want to thank all those in Malaysia who participated in the creation of this which really made a big welcome for pilgrims. We will save it carefully and install it next year again.

Brahmacharini Chudikadevi Saravan met with Bodhinatha today. She will be returning to Malaysia soon.

Other news:

Gurudeva's murthi was finally cleared and shipped from India and is enroute now from Chennai to Dubai to London to Honolulu and to Kauai. We asked for pictures to be taken of it but the finish is so bright all the pictures turn out as a big flash of light! Sheela Venkatakrishnan visited the murthi and said that it had the most beautiful smile and you "just wanted to sit in front of Gurudeva forever." Below, read her poem that was inspired when we posted a picture of Gurudeva's feet recently and download another precious photo of the Tiruvadi of our beloved Gurudeva:

Dancing Feet

He stood alone
tall and straight
robes aflutter
in the morning breeze
his back to the group
facing the cameras
Soon a moment in time
would freeze!

I walked quietly
and found a place
that seemed lit
as if by Grace
I knew I was right
when I heard
The kindest voice
in the whole, wide world
"She has found her seat
at her Guru's feet!
You cannot make her move!"
I looked up to see
Against a sky, light blue
were wisps of white
Like a cloud
dancing in delight!

What was it that Nandi saw
as Siva danced
between his horns?
I ready myself for you to dance
your feet upon my head
those feet that pour forth blessings
unbidden
never withheld!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's all for today. Don't forget to go to yesterday's TAKA if you missed it... some really wonderful shots from Malaysia and California.
Title: How To Send Prayers to the Devas
Category: God and Lords of Dharma
Duration: 2 min., 12 seconds
A logical question may come up - "How do you send prayers to this magical Kadavul Hindu Temple and how much does it cost?"
The answer is - The prayer must be written very clearly, typed or printed, if possible. It can be faxed. It can be sent on email. It can be sent in a letter. If it is in a letter, and you write your prayer to the devas or prayers to the Gods, we won't open the letter. So, don't put anything else in it, that you want us to see. We will put the sealed letter into the fire and there is no charge. It is for free.
Now, if the prayer is answered to your satisfaction, it is traditional to send a gift to the temple, to keep the temple going. If it is not answered to your satisfaction, it is traditional not to send anything to the temple, but to send another prayer, maybe, more clearly written, with more detail.
The Kadavul Hindu Temple is just celebrating its 27th anniversary. It is connected to many of the major temples of India. In fact, at Chidambaram, the priests there call it Chidambaram West.
Ask the question, "Do you have to be a Hindu to send prayers to the Kadavul Hindu Temple?" The answer is - You can just be yourself, whoever you are and give it a try, see if it works. Also, if the prayer is answered, it is only polite to send a message to the devonic forces, to the devas and the Gods, telling what your prayer was and how it was answered, and show appreciation and thank-you.
