Gurudeva blesses children who come forward after a gathering at a temple in Europe. His presence always seemed to instantly dispel the usual shyness and fear of little ones meeting strangers. Instead they would seem to immediately recognize the fullness of his love and the complete harmlessness of his being and jump into his lap if they could. It is said in the yogic scriptures that this is a sign of the complete attainment of the virtue of ahimsa, that people and even animals approach the sage without fear.

This is Mr. B. Rao Grandhi from Holmdel, New Jersey. A reader of Hinduism Today he decided to pilgrimage to Kauai Aadheenam. His wife stayed home on this trip. Their two children are in their twenties and so he and his wife are free and they have gone on many pilgrimages to temples in the US and throughout India.

Here is Mr. Grandhi next to the beautiful Trisula that was a gift to Gurudeva from the late Sankaracharya of Kanchi, Chandrashekaraswamigal. The trisula stands at the left hand side of the doorway as you exit, which is the traditional location of the Bhairava or "fierce" form of Lord Siva which serves as the guardian of the temple.

Mr. Grandhi is very impressed by our "Jnanadana seva" program for distributing free literature and he has made a pledge to see to the distribution of "Yamas and Niyamas" and "Four Facts" and "Nine Beliefs" in his area and to sponsor future printings of this literature.

With Sannyasin Saravananathaswami who was on vigil in the temple. Mr. Grandhi departed for home today.

Meanwhile this is Sun 3, or Dvadasi Tithi of the Sukla Paksha (12th day of the phase of the waxing moon before the full moon.) when each month we have our "Ashram Sadhana" day. Today's efforts focus on a major change in the Pilliyar Kulam building where two guest rooms in the back had their partition removed and the entire false ceiling gutted and all trim removed to reveal a large open space.

Here we are unloading sheetrock to put back on the original ceiling which is much higher in this A frame building.

With the arrival of Sannyasin Shanmuganathaswami and Sadhaka Jivanandanatha as Talaivar and new Pilliyar Kulam members, more office space is needed.

Sannyasin Arumugaswami who originally built the space into two guest rooms many years ago, is team leader for today's crew which is deconstructing his earlier work. "Three months to put all that in and one day to remove it!" Measuring out the blocking needed to install the sheetrock.

Positive changes in the air....

With the guest rooms at the front office dismantled, we had to move Thambynathan Shailesh Trivedi, our new aspirant, to new quarters. He and Kumarswami are working on replacing a solid door with a screen door on the third lanai room which used to be the Nada Guha sound room, so that he will have plenty of air at night.

The new screen door.

More innovation aloft under the direction of Sannyasin Yoginathaswami and his dauntless Siddhidata team who are a bit camera shy.... A large quick tent is being installed as a roof over the space between two storage containers.

It was another rainy day, and with winter coming on, the sun was low in the west, clouds overcast and light fading in the afternoon. This will serve as a tractor garage for the new big John Deer tractor. A really ingenious use of space!
