"Mati, cognition, on a higher level is the awakening of the third eye, looking out through the heart chakra, seeing through the maya, the interacting creation, preservation and dissolution of the molecules of matter. Mati is all this and more, for within each one who is guided by the guru's presence lies the ability to see not only with the two eyes but with all three simultaneously. The spiritual intellect described herein is none other than wisdom, or a "wise dome," if you will. Wisdom is the timely application of knowledge, not merely the opinions of others, but knowledge gained through deep observation."

Mati, continued: "The first observation you may have when thus seated for meditation is that thoughts are racing through the mind substance. You may become aware of many, many thoughts. Also the breath may be irregular. Therefore, the next step is to transmute the energies from the intellectual area of the mind through proper breathing, in just the same way that proper attitude, preparation and posture transmuted the physical-instinctive energies. Through regulation of the breath, thoughts are stilled and awareness moves into an area of the mind which does not think, but conceives and intuits."

Here at the Aadheenam all goes well as we are back on our regular daily schedule with morning puja at 5:30 am and visitors and tour as usual after a relaxed Sadhu Paksha. Also winter is setting in with a 72 degree temperature outside and a bone-chilling river temperature for the polar bear swimmers among us of about 66 degrees.

A bright group of guests today.

Tropf family, on the left, Dave and Rosemary with their two sons Jason (blue shirt) and Zac, visiting for the first time from Florida. Dave and Rose have finished the 365 daily lessons in MWS and look forward now to exploring it all over again each day. They had a great tour of the monastery grounds and of Iraivan temple. Then Palaniswami took them personally through the press shop showing the progress on Dancing with Siva and stopping by Arumugaswami's office to larn about HPI, to which they all subscribed.

The other couple on the right in the picture with them are Melinda and Raymond Manley from California. She is in high-end publishing and he is a programmer extraordinaire.

Of course our shisya and devotees "up there" in Mauritius, Australia are telling us its a blazing hot summer!

And those in Singapore, just a few degrees away from the equator wonder what all the fuss is about.

Recently our dear friends Pandit Sharma and his wife Asha came to Kauai Aadheenam. Asha has made a complete study of Gurudeva's teachings and she also did the 365 lessons of Merging with Siva. We encouraged her to teach a course at their temple using the recently printed Volume One of Mystic Mouse, which is an illustrated-for-youth redaction of "Merging with Siva" done by Sannyasin Natarajnathaswami with Gurudeva's guidance. Our goal was to see how it would "fly" in a completely "green" audience of young people. The volume contains six chapters and Asha got a formal commitment from some families to send their children to the class for six weeks... We asked her for feedback on the class... she writes:

"My class is going very well we just finished the 3
chapter and will start the 4th on sunday. The children
really like it so far and the parents want to join the
class they are pleased with the children progress.
