Gurudeva said:

"Nowadays the mind seems to be confused for young people and older people alike. There is too much television, too much surfing, too much input, and not enough planning, not enough talking, not enough camaraderie to sit down and plan out what you are going to do this year, next year, the year after and the year after that. But that's how you keep your karma under control: short-term goals and long-term goals planned out according to Saiva Dharma."

Bodhinatha has asked the Ekadanta Kulam to reach out to teachers of Hinduism the world over. We will be keeping their names in our database and offer support and teaching aids as they develop. If you are, or know of, any teachers of Hinduism in your area, temple, Hindu organization, please send your or their name, address and email to studyhall@hindu.org. Rest assured, your email will not be given out and we do not "spam' anyone, but only send occasional announcements.

Title: Darshan Goes Both Ways

Cybertalk: Reading from Gurudeva's upadesha on darshan, Bodhinatha delves into Gurudeva's special insights on the spiritual darshan of the guru. The concept of darshan goes beyond the devotee's seeing of the guru; it also embraces the guru's seeing of the devotee. Through this visual interaction the devotee sees the guru and draws forth his blessings as the guru sees the devotee and witnesses his divine place in the universe.

Yogi Japendranatha, along with Sadhaka Jivanandanatha master mind our computer hardware, network, and file server and mail server He oversees the final production stages of our books from the end of the editorial process through printing and binding stages with our printer in Kuala Lumpur.

It's not unusual for him to be on the phone with Tech support somewhere or other... Thank you Yogi for keeping everything running!

He also performs one of the late night vigils from 9 PM to mid-night, seeking the Self....

Sannyasin Shanmuganathaswami our new talaivar of the Pilliyar Kulam is implementing a long held vision that Gurudeva had asked for several years ago... this was to establish a network connection to the our mini-mela bookshop so that one of the monks could spend the late mornings there everyday to make sure guests were attended to. He and Sadhaka Jivanandanatha have worked for a couple of days, digging a trench, laying in optical cable and phone wires. The phone on the wall is strictly intercalm numbers, so that we can contact whoever is stationed there or visitors can pick up the phone and it automatically rings at Sadhaka Jivanandanatha's desk.

They also cleaned out the whole mini-mela and re-stocked it.

With the visitor flow steadily increasing we are working to find new ways to accommodate the steady stream of pilgrims and tourists and provide them a memorable experience with our small staff and still keep a monastic vibration at the same time... its a challenge but a great joy to be able to share the gift of Kauai Aadheenam, Kadavul Hindu Temple and Iraivan Temple with thirsty spiritual seekers from the world over.

OTHER NEWS

Here's a few "non-visuals "

  • Silpis' visa and travel arrangements are coming along well. Our new team will be here in the second week of April.
  • Since putting "Loving Ganesha" on line, with the great help of Thambynathan Shailesh Trivedi, sales for the printed book have shot up and we completely sold out our current inventory and are bringing back 1,500 copies from Malaysia.

We are happy to announce that www.hindu.org, one of the web sites managed by Himalayan Academy Publications, has a new web master: Nitya Nadesan in Seattle. Nitya has experience in web seva. He has also been with Gurudeva since 1970. He puts the quarterly issue of Hinduism Today on the web after it is printed. Now he will receive requests for links at hindu.org and deal with these. www.hindu.org is a high profile portal site as it is the main link at AOL's Hinduism religion page. We try as best we can to vet all submissions carefully for suitable, appropriate substantive content, authenticate Hindu roots, user end value as a resource etc. and carefully monitor on-going changes to links posted there. Thank you Nitya for volunteering to take over this important work.
