We continue today with our story of the installation of the stone threshold of Kadavul Siva temple... and looking through all of Gurudeva's books for the word "threshold' we find many interesting teachings, for example:

"
Here, on this threshold of the anahata chakra, there are two choices. One is following the sampradaya of a satguru for the next upward climb into the vishuddha, ajna and sahasrara. The other is remaining guru-less, becoming one's own guru, and possibly delving into various forms of psychism, astrology, some forms of modern science, psychic crime-detection, tarot cards, pendulums, crystal gazing, psychic healing, past-life reading or fortunetelling. These psychic abilities, when developed, can be an impediment, a deterrent, a barrier, a Berlin Wall to future spiritual development."

Bodhinatha has been working closely with his new team at the Pilliyar Kulam, Sannyasin Shanmuganathaswami and Sadhaka Jivanandanatha, slowly passing over to them the administrative duties he has been handling through the years. Meanwhile he's working in the afternoon, just as Gurudeva did, editing publications, newsletters and working on the next new book. Now that Gurudeva has completed the Trilogy, Bodhinatha plans to take these teachings and issue them in smaller mass market kinds of publications, beginning with a new book on the Yamas and Niyamas that will be called "Yoga's Forgotten Foundations."

We were unable to bring you all the photos from yesterdays events so we continue the threshold installation documentary today.

After the silpis had brought in the stone and prepared it for placement Paramacharya Ceyonswami brought some gems to be placed under the stone.

These are placed in a small opening on the northeast end of the doorway.

Sandal paste is then placed over the gems.

The nine gems are traditionally placed at various areas of a temple's sensitive points where deva's reside.

Then swami blessed the threshold putting a pottu in the center.

Then the threshold is moved into position.

Our entire team will be departing on May 2nd. After six weeks Shanmugam Sthapati and Chinnu will return, along with a new team. Today we brought everyone to the publications building to show them through our facility and give everyone a send off.

Paramacharya Palaniswami gives them all a souvenir booklet made up of a photo collection of their work and activities over the past two years which they can take home as a remembrance of their time with us here.

Current Overview

The temple is quiet awaiting the next raising of stones tomorrow.

Crated in front are the four sages to be installed in front of Dakshinamurti.

The jointing work is complete between these courses, another washing and the work of time and weather will bring all the color the same.

On the pillars are inscribed all important 12 meditations that Gurudeva called the "Mamsane" which delineate 12 sadhanas to be performed through the year, and also encapsulated the overview and inner direction of those on the striving on the path to moksha. Here we have four portraits read from the top to the bottom:

Makaeef: The philosophy that contains the whole of the beliefs, attitudes, lifestyle of meditation that is focused on attainment of pure awareness leading to Nirvikalpa Samadhi.

Kaeef: awareness aware only of itself

Eekaef: Pure awareness held over an extended time wherein the inner high-pitched EEEE sound is heard...

EmKaeef: Pure awareness aware of itself, dissolving into the Self. The experience of Self-realization or Nirvikalpa Samadhi.

Another pillar symbol: Lord Siva seated giving grace.

Another image of Siva

Roof beams almost ready to go up.

Various small stones that will be part of the vimanam, the tall temple tower over the main sanctum.

Raman working on a joint between courses.

Pillars in perspective.
