World renowned female spiritual light, Karunamayi Sri Sri Sri Vijayeswari Devi, came to visit Kauai Aadheenam today. She has been an avid reader of Hinduism Today for many years and finally took us up on an invitation we sent her about 7 years ago to come to Kauai and visit. She meets here with Bodhinatha who shares with her Gurudeva's perspective that each individual must take responsibility for peace in the world by bringing peace into themselves and their homes.

Today was a very auspicious day for connecting with the inner worlds and also chitra nakshatra. The monthly pada puja for Gurudeva was performed by Sadhaka Jivanandanatha (left) and Sadhaka Tejadevanatha assisting.
A small fire is kept burning during the ceremony.
Milk abhishekam
It's hard to describe the vibration that comes to the temple during Gurudeva's pada puja. One feels his presence in deep inner ways, and yet as real as the sweet fragrance of plumeria filling the room.
Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami ki jai!
The Alahan ladies sing guru songs after the puja while everyone goes forward to prostrate.
Shaila Pushpa Sendan with her dad, Jothi. Shaila behaves perfectly in the temple.
Everyone comes forward to prostrate and touch their head to the guru's sandals.
Our esteemed visitor, Sri Karunamayi, affectionately known as Amma, arrives at the Aadheenam, greeted with arati by our Kauai Mission ladies.
A quick tour through the Banyan Mandapam to see the pictures of the future of Iraivan Temple.
Sri Karunamayi worshiped Siva as a young girl and experienced deep inner unfoldments, leading her to her mission today.
Amma's main headquarters is in Penusila, Andhra Pradesh, India, where she experienced her early years of sadhana and God Realization.

Current Overview |
We took Amma to visit the Iraivan Temple site.
Visit her web site at http://www.karunamayi.org to find out about her wonderful mission.
One of Amma's messages is the importance of meditation, which she calls the greatest practice, which must be done daily. Amma spent ten years meditating in a forest.
She visits the San Marga lingam.
Amma's global mission takes her on a rigorous travel schedule teaching and conducting yajnas. You may find one near your residence if you look at her schedule on her web site.
Amma's ashram in Andhra Pradesh is in a forested area. She knew well the importance of rudraksha trees and immediately went to hug one.
Fresh rudraksha fruits in hand.
Years ago when she received the invitation to come to Kauai, Amma told her mother about it. Her mother longed to come to see the rudraksha trees here. Her mother passed away, and today Amma brings her mother's picture to place on a rudraksha tree for a moment to fulfill her wish.
Our rudraksha trees are quite large these days and provide an impressive site for visitors. Amma's travel coordinator, Sherry, and her personal assistant, Akkai, Amma's sister.
Then, off to the publications facility.
Standing with Gurudeva
Paramacharya Palaniswami shares the work of the publications team with Amma and Swami Vijayeswarananda.
A meeting with the Hinduism Today staff. Amma is excited about an article she read recently and has Swami Vijayeswarananda explain that it said research showed that there was only the worship of Lord Siva in ancient days, when the whole world was Hindu.
Arumugaswami conducts a brief ten-minute interview with Amma.
Amma sits quietly listening to Bodhinatha share his wisdom with her in the Guru Pitham.
She requested this photo with Bodhinatha and some of the swamis.
Here we give her some literature, most importantly the talk that Gurudeva gave at the UN on world peace. The glob-trotting spiritual mother had a tight schedule, and she was off early. We all felt a great affinity with her teaching and spiritual work. May the Divine Mother bless us all!
Another couple from New York arrived later in the morning.
