Gurudeva blessing the foundation of Iraivan Temple as he did every week for a year or more. Today at the spot where Gurudeva stood, rises up the beautiful and amazing edifice of the Iraivan Temple central sanctum. If you sit there quietly in a still moment, an ancient power emanates from the exquisitely carved stones. We reflected together that although the temple is "new," the stones themselves were cast in the fire and heart of Mother Earth eons ago.

Bodhinatha continues to work on the vows for new monks we refer to as the "Supplicant Vows." These are the vows taken after what have been years of study, then testing as a brahmachari in the "Aspirancy." When the young one chooses to be a supplicant it means he is supplicating the monastic order sincerely to be allowed to enter the monastic community. As such it marks a turning point from the days of making up one's mind to showing us all that he has made a firm decision to join Lord Muruga's soldiers of the within, serving selflessly to carry the flag of Saivism high for generations to come as he walks his personal path alone, within, to merge with Siva.

Dhiraj and Monisha Jeyanandarajan visited us from California today. They had just gotten married last week.
Readers of Hinduism Today and friends of Janahan, the priest who conducted the ceremony during Gurudeva's Mahasamadhi, they enjoyed the morning Siva puja, a tour of San Marga and a wonderful meeting with Bodhinatha. Dhiraj had been here once before in 1985 but it was Monisha's first time. Bodhinatha gifted them with a shawl.
Lord Ganesha presides In the form of a Nepali style carving installed at the Rudraksha forest where begins the Path of San Marga. His humble supports were faced with lava rock in the recent works done by our skilled Tongan island stone team. One day pilgrims will arrive here instead of at the front of the monastery, to begin their journey into the spiritual wonderland that is Gurudeva's great gift to the world.
Meanwhile in Malaysia, work continues on the printing of Dancing with Siva. Here is another piece of art that is found in the book. A work by S. Rajam, it illustrates well his subtle graceful style in depicting the simple way of life in ancient Hindu India. This lady is preparing the kolam drawing with rice flour on the pathway to her home as part of her morning duties, bringing beauty and auspiciousness to the family dwelling and joy to the heart of the arriving guest. The rice flour will over the next few hours be consumed by ants. Thus her work is a small karma yoga done in the spirit of sacrifice which is at the core of Vedic spiritual living that permeates life, 24 hours a day.

Current Overview |
Add together the revelations of Lord Siva in the Saiva Agamas that unveil the principles of puja worship, 2000 years of Vastu architectural experience and wisdom, the hammer, chisel, sweat of our silpis and our Siddhidata Kulam team, and you have the above temple sanctum now standing in the middle of the Pacific.
Some of us have been chipping stones to carry on the vibration while the silpis are away and its hard to imagine the years and years of man hours and patience and dedication required to build such an edifice entirely from stone by hand.
But we could not have done this without the steady support of our wonderful family of temple builders in over 30 countries. We bring you this report from Malaysia where the ladies among Gurudeva' sishya are chipping stones of their own for Iraivan. Brahmachari Gowri Nadesan reports:
Fund raising awareness is a success in Malaysia. The United Saivite Women of Malaysia are happy to carry out a project that does not require much finance support and we are able to make 100% profit. Attached is the report of our project.
Fund raising for Iraivan Temple by United Saivite Women of the Malaysia Mission on festivals and daily basis.
Since Iraivan Day Awareness was officially initiated by His Holiness Bodhinatha on 26 January 2003 at the Scott road Kalamandapam Hall, the United Saivite Women of Malaysia, has not stopped doing fund raising for Iraivan Temple. The ladies were determined to go all out to raise money by doing sales of hand-made crafts of key chains, photo framing of Saivite pictures, Hindu Gods and Gurudeva's of various sizes. We have now added a new item by sewing tiny cushions with the sacred saivite symbols like the swastika, Ganesha, tripundra, Nandi and many others.
All we have to do is just put a table outside the temples in our neighborhood during festivals i.e Maha Sivaratri, Chitra Purnima, etc. and display all our items and we are ready to attract the crowd. We need not have to pay any money for using the premises, it is free of charge. All proceeds goes for Iraivan. We explain about the progress of the temple in Kauai to the public who are keen to give to the temple that Saint Mannikavasagar sang 2000 years ago in the Tiruvasagam.
So far with this project, we have managed to sponsor a section of Iraivan temple's red granite floor for the third time. Elegant rose-coloured granite floor of #14, #10, and now #12. We are fortunate to be blessed with the grace of our Beloved Gurudeva and Bodhinathaswami to fulfill our seva. We will keep sponsoring the granite floor from Malaysia for Iraivan.
Om Shanti
