Gurudeva could well be called the "Great Communicator," ever on call to take care of the smallest details of the karmas of his close devotees and ever urging his monks to communicate the greatness and heritage of Sanatana Dharma to the world through publications.

We are very happy to have our long-time sishya and one of the founding member families of Saiva Siddhanta Church, Mauritius, with us today. This is Kulapati Manogaran ("Manon") Mardemootoo and Kulamata Sornumbal Mardemootoo from Port Louis, Mauritius.

Bodhinatha's Sun One Video. Most Recent update: July 8, 2003, Bodhinatha speaks on siddhanta sravana, scriptural listening, niyama #6.

Study and listen to learned people and our primary scriptures, the Vedas, and other holy texts. This guides us to become more spiritual people. But it is by listening, more than reading, which is the thrust of this practice, for listening is more powerful. As Yogaswami said, "It is not in books, you fool!" Rather, it is through hearing that the more subtle forms of knowledge as passed from the knower to the listener, from the teacher to the student. This happens most potently when the speaker has had spiritual experiences.
Bodhinatha continues with a second subject on the importance of the guru in our religious lives, which begins the talks he gave as part of the Satguru Purnima festival last phase.

Cybertalk: Bodhinatha speaks on santosha, contentment. This niyama is about being content and happy on the inside of ourselves no matter what happens on the outside. Unfulfilled desires keep us from experiencing contentment in life. Don't allow disagreements in our life. Gurudeva said the home needs to be a sanctuary for all members of the family, never a place where we let off steam. If you get stressed and burdened, take a walk, exercise, visit a park or a garden. Get out of the house. The temple is also a great place to uplift our minds and get things off our chest. Be grateful for the things we DO have, and don't dwell on what you don't have. Live in the now.

Manon is a leading attorney in the country of Mauritius and was instrumental in establishing Saiva Siddhanta Church as an act of Parliament there after which we were able to build up the beautiful Spiritual Park and Dharmasala at Rempart. And Sornumbal has been a strong force behind all kinds of Saiva Siddhanta Church activities in the country. Thank you both for all your dedicated support and energy!

Manon, when he is not in court or at his office, loves to take care of plants and bonsai is one of his hobbies. Here he admires a bonsai sitting in front of our temple.

This powerful photo of His Holiness Swami Buaji Maharaj was taken at the open house. Many people told us later what an inspiration it was to have this 114-year old yogi share his wisdom with all the guests.

We continue with our last series of photos from the open house day. After the speeches Senator Gary Hooser takes a hammer and chisel and makes a few chips on one of Iraivan's stones.

Current Overview

Afterward all the speeches were over the guests were given the opportunity to see the temple work up close and personal and to also chip on a stone. The bright man on the left is our good and joyful friend, the famous singer of Hawaiian music, Larry Rivera.

Smiling faces before what to many was a magic wonderment.

This photo shows the size of the capstone of the temple...

Our silpis on show for the guests

The temple with special decorations...

We got a glimpse of the future today as many people pondered the greatness of the tradition behind this edifice.

Our stalwart sevaks, the local family members, man a small refreshment booth to provide lemonade to all.

Many could hardly believe their eyes, standing close to the stones.

Our monks stroll among the crowd, to touch base with everyone and answer questions.

"Wow! That stone is really hard!"

"My goodness, how long do you think it would take to carve just one stone?!"

It was a gorgeous day...

Yogi Japendranatha has a full load. "OK, the Aadheenam Express Shuttle is leaving again, we have room for one more."

Saravananathaswami answering questions and receiving the appreciations and thanks that so many offered to the monks today for having this open house and letting everyone join in the temple progress.

Shanmugam Sthapati knows enough English to hold his own in a conversation with our island friends.

Just standing by the pillars has an uplifting effect.

Back at the Aadheenam the crowd that remained gathers for a wonderful feast. We fed over 550 people that day.

Title: Lord Ganesha
Category: God and Lords of Dharma
Duration: 5 min., 51 seconds
Given by: Gurudeva

Today at Kauai Aadheenam, it is the 10th of April.

The question has come up, "Who is the great, elephant-headed God Ganesha?"

Lord Ganesha is becoming very popular in the world. He drank all the milk in London, also in New Delhi. The miracle is documented by newspapers and scientists all over the world. Lord Ganesha is truly a God that you can contact easily. He is in-charge of time and He is in-charge of memory. You want to improve your memory, pray to Lord Ganesha.

We have a very nice treat today. We have a Brahmachari here, who is going to read from the Master Course - Book Two, for children 8-9 years of age. He is going to read about Lord Ganesha and tell you something about the Master Course. But, it will be in the beautiful Malay language. Let us hear what he has to say and I'll be back to talk to you a little bit more.

{Brahmachari Nanthakumar speaks in Malay.}

Gurudeva: That was very beautiful and thank you very much. Devotees in Malaysia, if you would like to receive a copy of this beautiful course of lessons, we do have a free copy in Malaysia for you. So, send me your name and address and we will see that you get a copy, with no charge, right from Malaysia. We have sent hundreds and hundreds of these to schools and temples throughout the country. There are about 30,000 temples in Malaysia and our aim is to get one of these to each temple for the children to read .

Well, the only word in Malay that I know, as I said the other day, was 'awaas'. Take care of yourself. Be cautious. Take care of yourself, your body. It is the only one you have and you want it to last as long as possible. Eat well, breathe deeply. Think good thoughts, because even the thoughts that you think, their karma will come to you through other people's minds.

Lots of blessings from this and inner worlds. We'll be back again tomorrow.
