One of Gurudeva's favorite songs from the 1940's had a special meaning for him and during this Maha Samadhi week... it takes on even more meaning:

I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces all day through
In that small cafe, the park across the way
The children's carousel, the chestnut trees, the wishing well
I'll be seeing you in every lovely summer's day...

Bodhinatha just returning from a meeting with local community leaders, following in the footsteps of Gurudeva in serving Kauai as a spiritual presence in the community of our beautiful island.

Bodhinatha's Sun One Video. Most Recent update: September 12, 2003. Bodhinatha speaks on Ahimsa, noninjury, yama #1, which is noninjury in thought, word and deed. The law of karma decrees that it is wise not to harm or hurt others, for we will then receive harm and hurt in exchange in the future. 12 minutes, 29 seconds.

Our morning began with a puja to Gurudeva in the temple... monks arriving at about 5:45, prostrating to Bodhinatha.

Our temple is full...

The atmosphere was full of Gurudeva's presence. The messages coming through were many. Yogaswami said it well when he wrote to one of his young devotees:

Sivamayam

Yogendra!

Look everything is Sivamayam. Then who are you? Who am I? Who is your father? Who are they, and what are all others? Are they not all Sivam? Are you still in doubt? Do you fear? Look! I in you, and you in me, and all being ONE and ONE being all, remain changeless as ever before. Arise, know more and more.

All is well, all is well, all is well.

Yours,

The birthless and deathless one.

Yogaswami

Everyone chants the 108 names of Gurudeva.

Everyone is quiet during the simple puja... and the words that Gurudeva spoke come to life:

"Within the quantum level of consciousness there originates a vibration, a steady vibration, that can be heard with the inner ear as a high-pitched "eeeee," as if a thousand vinas were playing, as if all the nerve currents in the astral body, physical body and the body of the soul were singing in harmony. It is a divine combination of the ida and pingala tones blended together in the sushumna. Each lineage of gurus has embedded within the psyche of tradition a certain combination of sounds, and that listening to this mystic sound holds all devotees close to their satguru and all those who preceded him."

"It is also said that when one is in another birth, the sound is the same, and this will eventually lead the aspirant back to his spiritual lineage. Listening to the nada, as it is called in Sanskrit, or nada-nadi shakti, brings the threshold of bliss and shows that the balance of all karmas has been attained. Listening to the nada and tracing it into its source carries the seeker's awareness to the brink of the Absolute.

"In a similar way, one can receive darshan through a picture of the satguru. The darshan does not really come from the picture, but from the akasha where the inner guru exists. The picture only acts as a point of concentration, but enough of a focal point to tune the devotee into the akasha at the exact moment, which is "now," when that picture was taken or painted and the exact feeling of the darshan at that particular time and its accumulated effect up to the present moment. Then the totality of the satguru's darshan is felt. "

After the puja, everyone sat in silent meditation together, tuning into the form of Gurudeva. Try it yourself and join us on the inner planes!

Receiving vibhuti from Bodhinatha after the end of the morning events.

Later in the morning... 10:30 am session with Sivakatirswami. He led the group in a "think tank" investigation of Gurudeva's spiritual qualities and how these could be taken as aspirations for our own spiritual growth.

It was inspiring to hear the different testimonies. Everyone wrote down the qualities as we discovered them together, to take home and meditate on later.

1) "To bring the superconscious to bear on every aspect of life through concentration and meditation.
2) Absolute dedication to the principle of non-violence.
3) Perfect clarity of consciousness that is able to cognize the needs of others.
4) To be ever in a state of "listening" to the divine message from God and Guru.

and many more... were the gifts of Gurudeva's life that we can incorporate into our own life.
