Sadhu Paksha, Day 14 (last day)

Gurudeva in Europe at a temple....

Join Bodhinatha in Malaysia!

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami will be traveling through Malaysia on his pilgrimage to India in 2004. Please join him and his devotees for a gala event in KL.

Monday, Jan 19th, 2004
Kalamandapam, Sri Kandaswamy Temple
Scott Road, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.
7:30pm to 9pm

Bodhinatha will be giving vibhuthi blessings after the event. Those who attend will also receive a free copy of the new Island Temple magazine.

Bodhinatha has been work in publications every afternoon, as did Gurudeva. The team is editing "Know ThySelf" which is a reprint and design upgrade of a small give away booklet that we did many years ago. It will be used for visitors, to make sure they go home with some teachings in hand.

Bodhinatha's Sun One Video. Most Recent update: September 12, 2003. Bodhinatha speaks on Ahimsa, noninjury, yama #1, which is noninjury in thought, word and deed. The law of karma decrees that it is wise not to harm or hurt others, for we will then receive harm and hurt in exchange in the future. 12 minutes, 29 seconds.

Paramacharya Palaniswami
It is not often that Gurudeva's swamis are in California, but this will happen briefly on January 15. Paramacharya Palaniswami is flying there with Sadhaka Dandapani to lead the main Innersearch Indian Odyssey group on the flight to Malaysia.

All TAKA cyber-cadets and family and friends are warmly invited to take part in a special function to welcome Paramacharya Palaniswami, one of Gurudeva's most senior monks and editor-in-chief of Hinduism Today magazine, on the occasion of his visit to the San Francisco area.

Palaniswami will present the fascinating story of the fully hand-carved, granite San Marga Iraivan Temple on Hawaii's island paradise - an icon of Hinduism's beauty and strength. It is also an
opportunity for all students and cyber-cadets who visit our daily "Today at
Kauai's Hindu Monastery" chronicle website to share your questions, thoughts
and inspirations with us. Your presence is indispensable, and we look
forward to seeing you there. If you are nearby, put this on your calendar. Aum Namasivaya!

Date: Thursday, January 15th, 2004
Time: between 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Venue: Solano Room
Embassy Suites Burlingame
150 Anza Blvd,
Burlingame, CA 94010

Paramacharya Ceyonswami, does the morning 9 am Siva Puja on most days. Here he is doing the daily short arati to Gurudeva. Note the lovely wooden case that holds the three books of the Trilogy.

Gold lettering on the top.

"The Master Course" is written on the top edge.

Made in Bali, these were produced with the inspiration and guidance of Bani, one of our members in Singapore.

The Pilliyar Kulam is responsible for our annual community gift-giving which is taking Honey Bears around to all the people and business we know on Kauai. Sadhaka Jivanandanatha is filling these today.

He and Shanmuganathaswami got out of their office and away from the computers for this joyful, fun task.

Girish Samugam from Singapore is helping.

Two of our monks will go out during Pancha Ganapati and personally drop by and say hello to each and everyone we associate with regularly, along with the neighbors in our area, and give them a Honey Bear filled with sweet Kauai honey, and convey the monastery's seasons greetings to the whole community in this way. This is an annual tradition we have fulfilled for decades.

Meanwhile, when we recently reported on TAKA that our Jersey cow, Chaturthi, was a bit lonely because she was all by herself in a big pasture, one of our compassionate supporters in Maryland offered to help us buy another cow to keep her company. Just at that time we found a Holstein and her mother for sale.

Holsteins are noted for the large quantities of milk they give, and are the cow you most often see at a dairy. The owner wanted US$1,000.00, and our devotee in Bethesda generously sent a check. Today, with some neighborly help, we went to pick up the new cows.

Our neighbor and long-time friend Dennis Wong offered to help with the transfer of our new monastery members from their old home to ours. His daughter joined.

Sadhaka Haranandinatha, Yogi Mahadeva and Thambynathan Girish Samugam are our team on the cow transfer. Girish is behind the camera. Here we are with Dennis's trailer.

The owners were worried that if they sold us the young cow, that the mother would be left alone and very sad, which is certainly true. So, they gave us both cows for the price of one! Mother Lakshmi must be watching and sending Her grace down upon us... now our small herd has grown to three cows.

Dennis is an old hand with livestock and knows how to handle them well.

A little feed in the back of the trailer to encourage them on board.

OK, up and away!

Successfully on board and ready to go to Kauai Aadheenam.

Ready to roll...

Everyone checks out the two cows and we say good bye to the former owners.

Sadhaka gives the lady the payment from our anonymous donor. Thank you, Siva!

Off to new pastures at the monastery.

Former owners with Dennis on the right.

All is well and Chaturthi will be soooo happy now to have some companions.
