Gurudeva offers arati at the place where the main sanctum of Iraivan now rises. The monks had placed palm leaves over the concrete foundation to protect it from the direct rays of the hot Hawaiian sun as it cured.

Pilgrims coming for darshan with Bodhinatha. We estimate that we have had over 200 visitors this phase!

Mr. Kulkarni and his son from the San Francisco area were back again today. They had toured Iraivan Temple and the grounds yesterday and today came back just to meet with Bodhinatha. They were here 4 years ago and were blessed to have met with Gurudeva then.

End of Phase Notice
This is Sun Five, the last day of this phase
This edition of TAKA will remain posted until

Bodhinatha's Sun One Video. Most Recent update: September 12, 2003. Bodhinatha speaks on Ahimsa, noninjury, yama #1, which is noninjury in thought, word and deed. The law of karma decrees that it is wise not to harm or hurt others, for we will then receive harm and hurt in exchange in the future. 12 minutes, 29 seconds.

Another very busy day in the middle of the Pacific on the world's most remote land mass!

Here are the 9 AM tour group that comes on schedule on the last day of each phase.

And later, more and more Hindu families arrived, from Boston, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Chicago... and what a bright group such wonderful children.

Monks hosting all morning.

Everyone enjoyed walking out to San Marga. It was a beautiful day.

Dakshinamurthi is always a awe-inspiring sight.

Our Siddhidata Kulam has taken the structure and coverings of the temple to new heights. The very top now is high enough to cover the very last, top course.

Meanwhile back at the Kadavul temple it's about 10:15 and Paramacharya Ceyonswami has completed the main puja and is outside doing Nandi puja.

The offering at the bali peedam.

Rice which is then offered to the sun, the devas and the birds.

And Bodhinatha meeting more guests. The Appareddy family from Tennessee. Young Nina gave $101 to Iraivan from her own holiday spending money. Thank you Nina. What a wonderful quality of giving you have cultivated for yourself in these early years.

The puja continues outside the temple.

Current Overview

Course 22 of the temple is considered one of the most beautifully ornamented portions of the whole vimanam.

Hammer, chisel, skill, foresight and accuracy. There is no going back with stone!

Dulled chisels ready to go back to the forge for re-heating and sharpening.

Corner pieces of course 22 will project out t be highly visible from a distance.

Intricate work on every piece of this course.

1/8 of an inch has to come off the side of this stone where it will come up against the next one.

Iraivan is very special

The silpis don't have much working space at this level.

A small piece stablized under foot.

After weeks of heavy rain we now have sunny dry spell. But the plants and garden needed to be watered.

Our beautiful Anna Purna vegetable garden.

Meanwhile Sadhaka Adinatha and Sadhaka Nilakantha work on an outdoor irrigation system.

A junction box for pipes underground.

Forms for concrete assembled.

A small batch of concrete ready for mixing.

Sannyasin Shanmuganathaswami inside the Pilliyar Kulam office.

Ganapu kitty is a gentle young fellow and he is quite attached to Ceyonswami and loves to "hang out" at the temple when Ceyonswami is on vigil.

Meanwhile in the Ganapati Kulam, wrap up on Hinduism Today and gearing up for Innersearch are top on the agenda. Also, the very beautiful new edition of "Know ThySelf" is almost ready to go off to the press in Malaysia. Yogi handles this end of the book production from final copy through to sending files to the printer in Kuala Lumpur.

He has also completed his portion of Hinduism Today duties for the coming issue and is working here on name tags for Innersearch.

You can look forward to a very education focused issue of Hinduism Today, where we tackle some of the challenges faced by young Hindus and educators. The gate fold cover of the magazine will be a giant cartoon... have a nice retreat!

bye 😉
