Gurudeva participating in a fire ceremony on the platform which now holds the four sages in front of Dakshinamurthi near Iraivan Temple.

In Living with Siva, Gurudeva wrote, "Tapas may come early in a lifetime or later in life, unbidden or provoked by raja yoga practices. It is the fire that straightens the twisted life and mind of an individual, bringing him into pure being, giving a new start in life, awakening higher consciousness and a cosmic relationship with God and the Gods."

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami makes a chilly 4:30 am departure from the Aadheenam on January 16.

After a long flight, he and his team report they have landed in Taipei and are getting a nights rest before heading to Kuala Lumpur.

Bodhinatha's Sun One Video. Most Recent update: September 12, 2003. Bodhinatha speaks on Ahimsa, noninjury, yama #1, which is noninjury in thought, word and deed. The law of karma decrees that it is wise not to harm or hurt others, for we will then receive harm and hurt in exchange in the future. 12 minutes, 29 seconds.

Shanmuganathaswami was one of the designated drivers for the airport run. Both van and truck were packed with people and baggage, and the early departure was to give lots of time to check in at the Lihue airport.

Sadhaka Dandapani reported before he left San Francisco: "The final count on the number of participants for this Odyssey is 91. They are from the following countries: United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Netherlands, South Africa, Mauritius, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Australia, Canada, USA, Grenada and Brazil - that makes us have a representative from all 5 continents. There will be 13 people flying out of San Francisco at 11:45pm CA time, 12 out of LA, 14 out of Nwq York and 1 each from Toronto and Vancouver. We (all 5 groups) meet in Hong Kong on the 18th morning and board the 9:30am flight to KL. The person coming from Toronto has a 21 hour and 15 min flight to Hong Kong not including a 70 minute stop in Vancouver. Then a 2 hour transit in Hong Kong followed by a 5 and half hour flight to KL. Many from the east coast of North America have already begun their journey earlier today. Some Innersearchers were present at last night's event at the Embassy Suites and a great sense of excitement is building among them. More than half the group have never been to Malaysia or India before."

Yogi Japendranatha, at left, is responsible for the tickets and passports on this leg and is making a quick check that all is in order.

Acharya Kumarswami with driver Sadhaka Haranandinatha head out in the truck, loaded with boxes. We had cleared the back road of fallen tree limbs from the wind storm so they could easily get out.

Another shot from that morning's Sun One homa with Paramacharya Ceyonswami, Yogi Mahadeva and church members in the background. Aran and Valli Sendan have been staying on Kauai for the last few weeks.
