New Map of Kauai's Hindu Monastery
June 13, 2015As those who have been on the grounds know, the 70 acres of the monastery are complex, varied, full of surprises. in preparation for a virtual tour we are designing for digital pilgrims, we recently had a new map created by Hiroko Letman, a Japanese landscape designer living on Kauai. She did a great job, and we share her work today for all to enjoy.

An annotated overview to give you a sense of what is where.

Same map without all the text.

Close-up of the entry and Kadavul Temple.

The vegetable garden with its raised beds, and in the lower left a palm grove.

Iraivan Temple and the nearby Wailua River

Our palm and fruit tree orchards. The 100 avocados at the bottom were just planted a few days back, so she drew them before they were in the ground!

A futuristic envisioning of the Visitors\
Center near the Rudraksha Forest.'

This is another map, done by a UC Berkeley architectural student, Ms. De Senna, back in the 1990s
