Maharudram

Satguru and our traveling monks spent yesterday morning and early afternoon at the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago. There were three simultaneous events. About eleven priests were performing rudra homa, while 121 Ritviks were chanting Sri Rudram eleven times, and one priest was doing Sivalinga Abhishekam. It all took place in a huge tent at the temple entrance, with some 4,000 devotees in attendance. Afterwards the kalasha were carried up the steep driveway to the temple and abhishekam was performed at the Sivalingam shrine in the temple. Only a few hundred people can fit in the temple so they had a TV showing the event on large screens in the tent area. It was certainly a powerful event.
