Hanuman's Journey to Kauai

For the past two weeks two teams in Loveland, Colorado, have been crating Lord Hanuman, getting him ready to take a voyage across the Pacific to Kauai Aadheenam

Today He is at the Oakland Port getting ready for His cruise. The crating alone is a major task as you will see in the slideshow.

He is lifted onto the base of the crate with chain lifts, taking care not to scratch the patina. Gurudeva looks on at the bottom.

Soft, new straps are used for the rigging.

Slowly He is laid down and the base is bolted to the floor of the crate.

In comes the forklift

It takes Him out of the workshop of Bobby and Kathy Page where he was born in this form.

He is moved to another shop, Lambert Shipping in Loveland, who make the best shipping systems for bronze statues.

His head is carefully supported

And the temple in His left hand.

Mr. Lambert, clearly proud of his sturdy crate.

He went on a truck to Oakland where He awaits the availability of a special container, since He could not fit into a regular one! It won\

t be long now when we can greet Hanuman.'
