Chitra Puja
January 30, 2016This morning the monks celebrated yet another glorious chitra puja for Sri Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswamiji. A few photos tell the tale...

An overall look from Siva\
s viewpoint. Island members on the right and monks on the left. '

Sadhakas Dayanatha and Jayanatha perform the puja to Gurudeva

Items are poured in abundance in hopes of both giving thanks and receiving blessings from that which we call upon. The deity, or in this case Gurudeva, literally comes into the murti. After offering the prana-filled items the soul can absorb and then send rays of shakti back to the crowd present. This is why we do what we do.

Yogurt soaked tiruvadi

The arati is offered and waved before the tiruvadi. Imagine a nightlight in the inner worlds. Fire can be seen for those beings that live in astral worlds. A screen-like divider is stretched thin as the lamp waves here and there, to and fro.

An arati with each offering. There is no better way to start the day.

Vibhuti covers the holy feet of the guru. The vibhuti can also be seen from the inner worlds. Not only as symbol for the various sects of Hinduism, but also a guide for our ancient inner world devas.

It is time to finish with the grand finale of flowers, garlands, incense and prasadam offerings.

Satguru Bodhinatha worships his guru

The largest of lamps circles the guru\
s sandals. Granite, wood, marble; many types of tiruvadi exist. Here in Kadavul we use granite tiruvadi for Gurudeva. '

Let us ask Gurudeva for his guidance, his insights and realizations. Gurudeva\
s reflections on the mind are one of a kind. May we learn to never get angry, never react needlessly or over-emotionally. May Gurudeva\'s light always be with us, in this world and the next. Aum Namah Sivaya.'
