The Beauty of Nature
April 12, 2016"Nature is the first temple"
These last two weeks our monks have been spending their mornings out of their usual worship and meditation routines. During Sadhu Paksha you'll find more than a few monks wondering through our sacred gardens as the sun rises. Today is the final day of Sadhu Paksha for our monastics. After a two day retreat they will start next Sun One with their usual routine homa and with a flag raising for the new season.
These wonderings through nature always spark appreciation for the beauty of a natural world which seems both infinitely complex and eternally simple.

The sun rises over the monastery

Out here we find our many flowers

These will soon be picked and offered in the temple

They all have the same design, yet none are the same

There is beauty even in the cut tree limb

...or in the aged wooden sign

Something exquisitely complex?

or just a piece of rusted metal?

Iraivan is accented by the angled light

The stream flows towards the river. That rock island looks like a nice place to sit.

From the perspective of this rock, what all can be witnessed? Here is a purple flower.

a crawling vine

a white wildflower

elegant leafs

a plant reaching for the sunrise

a simple rocky surface is not so simple up close

Would we afford flowers the same beauty if they lasted forever?

The river of life flows on

All this can be seen from one little rock

Look around you and look closely. It\
s easy to forget the divinity to be discovered in every little thing. Om Namah Sivaya. '
