Satguru in UK, June 30 Pt. 1: Kew Gardens
July 2, 2016This past Thursday, students and devotees took Satguru out for a visit to the spectacular Kew Royal Botanical Gardens in Surrey. The Gardens are spread out over 350 acres, containing some trees over 300 years old.

Satguru poses on \"The Hive,\" a remarkable creation which will be explained in later caption.

Dendrolatry, the worship of trees, has been a human practice for millenia, found in all corners of the world.

It\
s little wonder why. To be in the presence of a mighty, wisened tree is an experience of darshan if you simply feel its power. '

Kew provides ample facts about everything on their grounds.

Bright, merry souls host Satguru throughout the gardens.

A quaint spot - to sit beneath an living dome of evergreen.

To meditate on the life of an old tree is to enter into an area of the mind where time significantly slows down.

With such a vast expanse to cover, sitting breaks are needed.

A lone duck.

It\
s summer in Britain, and that means roses are in bloom.'

Heliconia. Just like back home on Kaua`i.

It took millions of years and millions of deaths to produce this flower. Another profound subject for a meditation.

Landscaped mounds spotted here and there provide a sense of spacial harmony, and a break on the eyes.

This brick structure has no choice but to flow with the lifeforce of this twisty, old tree. At least it\
s still standing...'

The aforementioned Hive. The Hive is the design of UK based artist Wolfgang Buttress. It is constructed from around 170,000 parts including thousands of pieces of aluminium which catch the changing sunlight.

There are 1,000 LED lights dotted around its core which glow and fade, while a unique soundtrack hums in response to the activity of real bees in a beehive behind the scenes at Kew Gardens. Amazing!

An enthusiastic and knowledgable guide hosts Satguru and the group, imparting his exstenive botanical wisdom.
