Off to Sacramento, CA
July 14, 2016Acharya Arumuganathaswami and Natyam Jayanatha are headed to Sacramento, California to the Department of Education to go before the State Board of Education who are about to pass final approval of the newly revised narrative for history and social science, which introduces world religions. This is the last step of the process we've been working through to make edits to improve the Hinduism section.

Acharya Arumuganathaswami and Natyam Jayanatha ready to depart from Lihu`e Airport, Kaua`i. Bon voyage, intrepid travelers.

From Lihu`e, Kaua`i, our traveling monks head to Honolulu, O`ahu before making a direct flight from there to Sacramento, CA. Honolulu offers a highly different landcape to our green, down-home Kaua`i existence.

Taking a stroll through capital park in Sacramento.

Sacramento is the captial of California. Behold its state capitol building.

Our monks were off to the home of Kulapati Easan and Kulamata Sundari Katir in nearby Davis, CA.

Receiving thamboolam from our esteemed sishya.

Kulamata Sundari prepared a knockout meal for our traveling mathavasi. They wholeheartedly give their sincerest compliments to her!

Woah. This impressive flock of thousands of bats met our travelers along the road as they drove. This area is reportedly home to the largest bat colony in the US - over 250,000 of them.

The first day of Board of Education meetings. Let the excitement begin! There are quite a number of people (311 to be exact). More reports to come of the results and details of the meetings.
