Sun One Homa

The monastics are off to another strong phase today as we light the homa fires and dive within.

The assistant will sometimes guide the entire group in the 108 chanting of \"Aum Ham Haum Shivaya Svaha.\" The chant is performed by everyone present and becomes a great inner technique by the end. With each \"svaha\" the presiding highest monk in the chain will offer homa herbs and seeds. Today we are fortunate enough to have Satguru home and leading that part of the homa.

A homa last for an hour, so the devotees have plenty of time to meditate, write prayers and work from within

We see here that the monks are chanting the group mantra. Notice that Acharya Arumuganathaswami is not chanting! There is a good reason: the monks that chant Sri Rudram actually take a short breather while the group chants. This is because Sri Rudram is a 30 minute long chant and a rest is needed for those who have not been trained as formal priests, such as the monks.

Satguru gives a fantastic talk about dealing with karmas by understanding that it all comes from ourselves
