From Paper to PDF
August 14, 2016For many years the Aadheenam has collected a variety of spiritual books from around the world. This collection has long been kept in an old container, acting as a "temporary" library. Unfortunately, this resource had been relatively unused of late, due mainly to the ease and availability of digital content online. Thus our collection has been left to slowly deteriorate in our tropical climate. However, thanks to the work of our taskforcers Dean and Kodiswara, we have begun the process of digitizing everything! The two are packing books in boxes to be shipped to the mainland, these books will then be transmuted into pdf's. These pdf's will be searchable and easily accessible for our monks. It will be a long process, but the result will be a paper free, indexed, searchable, accessible library. Jai Ganesha!

Dean goes through some books before they will be boxed and sent off

one of many shipments to be made

Kodishwara sets out collections of books to be gone through to check for duplicates or anything that we don\
t need to have scanned.'

There are many fascinating publications in our collection

Kodishwara shows us the library container.

It\
s a little run down and susceptible to moisture, so it\'s nice to see the books being cleared out'

24 boxes later and we\
ve cleared a lot of space'

Progress!

Dean takes books off shelves, setting aside anything that doesn\
t quite qualify. '

We won\
t see many sights like this anymore, as the monastery moves everything into the digital akasha'

Our thanks to our dedicated taskforcers! Aum Namah Sivaya!
