Heading Into The Retreat
December 27, 2016Jai Ganesha!
After a long and festive six-day phase, the monks are heading into their retreat. We'll see you again in a few days. In a proper end to this week's endeavors, we were gifted with this beautiful sunset over our sacred mountain, our sacred river, and our beloved temple.
In the end, the Great Mystery is known as one, as two, as neither one nor two. Most people try to experience God through other people. Disciples see a guru as God. Wives see their husband as God. Devotees see the Deity in the temple as God. But all the time, behind the eyes of their seeing, is God. Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami
Aum Namah Sivaya

\"Happiness and sorrow, honour and dishonour occur one after the other. Don\
t lose heart when you discover this. At the foot of the mountain you are aware of the high ground and the low ground. When you reach the summit the whole thing is just one beautiful spectacle.\" - Sri Yogaswami'

\"Just as the rays of light share and diffuse the radiance of the sun, so you too share and reflect the golden glories of Indra, the cosmic soul. Let us meditate on the divine presence and for our share, enjoy the ecstasy of bliss vibrating in the world of past and future creations, by virtue of Indra\
s omnipresent majesty.\" Rig Veda 8.99.3'

\"Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountaintop, then you shall begin to climb. And when the Earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance. Should we all confess our sins to one another, we would all laugh at one another for our lack of originality. Should we all reveal our virtues, we would also laugh for the same cause.\" Saint Kabir

\"A mountain is composed of tiny grains of earth. The ocean is made up of tiny drops of water. Even so, life is but an endless series of little details, actions, speeches and thoughts, the consequences of even the least of them is far-reaching.\" Swami Sivananda

\"The traveler has to knock at every alien door to come to his own, and one has to wander through all the outer worlds to reach the innermost shrine at the end.\" Rabindranath Tagore
