Life on the Farm
June 18, 2017Over at the monk's tree gardens we were able to catch some photos of a tree planting operation for our next batch going in the ground. Nirvani Haranandinatha reports:
We took 1,500 Honduran Mahogany seedlings from our nursery to be planted on Himalayan Acres
A crew of six from Forest Solutions that work the neighboring Green Energy tree farm have come to help plant them.
This crew can plant 4,000 seedlings per day. Here they are transferring the seedlings from our trailer to their planting machine.
This mechanical contraption, brought from Brazil, contains a tank for liquid fertilizer and special hand held hoses with mechanized dibbles attached.
The planters walk behind the machine and \"shoot\" the seedling and fertilizer into the ground in one motion.
