New in Siva's Garden
July 26, 2017The sacred garden, like life, is always full of surprises. Sometimes a family of pigs bring a surprise of devastation, sometimes a gnarly vine brings a surprise of flowery show. Today four surprises came to us. And none was of the porcine kind.
We brought in three more of these magnificent succulents. It\
s called Tillandsia xerographica, and they grow to be about 18 inches in diameter. '
We found this variegated Indian rubber tree growing in a yard in Kapaa. We traded some plants with the owner and brought home four cuttings to propagate.
Never has a true cactus bloomed in Siva\
s Garden, until today. So, a first. Notice the little keiki growing from the base, a promise of the future.'
This cactus flower is stunningly red.
And finally our Bird of Paradise bloomed. Not the usual orange one that all are familiar with. This is the one called Mandela\
s Gold, rare in the world and showing off for all to see out near Iraivan.'
