A Trip to Waimea Canyon
November 13, 2017Recently Sannyasin Siddhanathaswami, Natyam Mayuranatha and Natyam Jayanatha organized a small trip to the other side of our garden island for our resident taskforcers. Everyone left from the Aadheenam at 7:30am and made there way south around to the dry side of the island. In full, auspicious form a huge rainbow followed them the whole way, ever-present out front the car. Following an all-important stop for some coffee and cocoa, the team drove up the back slope of the mountain. After many twists and turns they arrived at the Waimea Canyon lookout for a spectacular view.
"When we look at the beautiful creations of nature, we see how lovely the mind can be. Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami

The team stops for a portrait on the rolling hills of red clay near the top of the mountain

Our morning rainbow follows us the whole way

our passengers smile for the camera

Though it\
s hard to tell, the ocean in the background is actually really far down from this gradual green slope atop the mountain'

Almost at the top, our rainbow is still with us.

This side of the island is usually brown but recent rains have turned it bright green.

We reach the martian-like surface near the top, our rainbow still in full form

who would have guessed that we would find a waterfall on mars?

Jagdish reclines above the falls

We reach the canyon

It\
s a little cloudy, but quite a clear view'

Our taskforcers enjoy the spectacle

with the green in the canyon, its contours and depths are easily seen

We then take a short hike

at the end is another wonderful lookout
