Island Members Make Malas
November 19, 2017Our local mission gathers once a month to make Iraivan's most profitable source of revenue--island grown rudraksha malas. The seva performed by these divine souls helps make Iraivan Temple a reality, supporting the shipping containers, labor costs, building materials and the endowment that will keep Iraivan funded for the future. From the core of our hearts, thank you. If you are reading the daily blog then show your support as well and let these amazing people know they are loved and supported by commenting down below.
Isani Alahan is standing on the right of this photo and holding the dozens of malas that this group has put together. On the left, sitting, is Chamundi Sabanathan. Chamundi patiently strings together each rudraksha seed.
Uma Sivanathan sits in front of Chamundi and finishes off the mala with precision. The knot at the end must be well done or else the weight of the mala will undo all the hard work done.
Isani passes the newly finished malas to Deva Ceyon. Deva, Amala, Lila, Isani, Durvasa, Uma, Chamundi, Vel, Aran, Tandu, Valli and Rajadeva are the saints of this monthly mission and we thank you!
