Our Chitra Puja for January
January 14, 2018The monks offered sweet liquids to their Gurudeva at midday. Naytams Mayuranatha and Dayanatha perform the silent ceremony. This was the 216th Pada Puja performed for Gurudeva since his departure, which is 108 times two, and the power and auspiciousness was palpably doubled on this day.

Since the puja was at an unusual time, noon, we were able to see Lord Muruga in his full dress for the day!

He is surrounded by a plant called Song of India also known as Dracaena Reflexa. Interestingly enough, in other countries the plant is simply known as the country it is growing in. In Jamaica they would say, Song of Jamaica.

The group gathers to chant Sri Rudram, a powerful chant lead by Satguru. Two days a week the monks are also taking classes to perfect the long chant.

\"The Self is so simple, so uncomplicated, that the ramified external mind overlooks it.\"

\"There are only two things you can really depend on: one is the changeableness of life, and the other is the unchanging Self within you.\"

\"If Hindus really understood how deep into their soul their religion penetrates, if they knew how superior it is to any other spiritual path on the Earth today, they would not abandon it so easily but cherish and foster it into its great potential. They would not remain silent when asked about their religion, but speak out boldly its great truths. They would not hesitate to stand strong for Hinduism.\"
