Iraivan Work Heats Up Again
January 20, 2018After a long rest in Hawaii, Iraivan Temple construction picked up today with a new arrival of granite stones--one of the last shipments needed. Soon all of the stones will be here on Kauai and 40ft containers of granite will be a thing of the past. Our stone carvers are also expected to arrive in a few weeks to begin the final touches and placement of the Nandi Mandapam, perimeter wall and general spot-checks. 2018 is going to be an exciting year.

The stones begin in India and swim across the ocean to Young Brothers LTD, our Kauai\
n shipping company'

The monks always arrive when the stones do and make sure the workers unload a bit more carefully, although we\
re sure they would do fine even if we weren\'t there--better to be safe...'

One by one the forklift unloads the thousand-pound stones from the container and puts them on the delivery truck

A partially loaded truck

Now the fully loaded truck can drive up to the monastery and drop them off

Here we are in front of Dakshinamurti. The ground was not wet enough to stop the work.

The stones are so pristine when they arrive, untouched by the damp Kauai weather. Soon the entire temple will be soda-blasted and returned to this level of cleanliness.

We have to give a massive Mahalo to Aloha Isle Movers, and especially our dear friend and shipping company manager Ron. If memory serves, Aloha Isle Moving has transported each and every Iraivan stone.
